talk in mainspace article
editI have copied all the content of Sub Rosa (novel) from this version https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sub_Rosa_(novel)&oldid=769160074 to the talk page, where it belongs, and substituted it with a template that indicates that this is a work in progress. That should prevent the article from deletion for a while. Frankly, I would strongly suggest that you create a draft first, for example at Draft:Sub Rosa (novel) then move it to Sub Rosa (novel) when it's ready. Mduvekot (talk) 00:25, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- I went ahead and implemented Mduvekot's suggestion and moved it to Draft:Sub Rosa (novel). I also added a first sentence with a reference so there is something very small to build off of. Whenever you need it moved back to the mainspace, you should be able to do it yourself by hitting the move button. If you have more questions you can either leave me a message on my talk page or also talk to Adam (Wiki Ed), who is the Wikieducation Foundation content expert for your class. - Thank you both for your comments! We were trying to create a placeholder type page to let others know we would be working on this topic, and create a space where others can contribute. - If you are going to write the article in your group sandbox, the way to do it would not be a copy-paste move, which is highly frowned upon here because of copyright issues, but moving it directly from the sandbox to the mainspace via the move feature. User space drafts are allowed, but with the draft space now open, those tend to be preferred. If you prefer to use the sandbox because your instructor has told you to do that, its okay. Just reply here and I'll place a deletion tag on the article so that there are not two competing drafts. TonyBallioni (talk) 05:18, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

- Ah thank you for the heads up. I think the original suggestion was to use the move feature to move it from the sandbox to the mainspace. But it was also suggested to us to have a page created as a placeholder. If both of those can not exist simultaneously, I don't think our professor would have an issue with us using the draft page you created for us for our rough work. I'm assuming we could use it for rough drafting the same way we would the sandbox, so I will let my group members know and check with my professor to ensure we are ok to use the draft page. - Yeah, creating a placeholder page in the mainspace isn't a great idea. You'll get a lot of people placing speedy deletion templates on it at worst, and at best it will be in the way when you try to move your actual article into mainspace, so an admin would have to preform a housekeeping deletion of it to make way for the move of the sandbox. Sorry if the wikispeak is a bit dense :) Confirm with the professor, but the advice I would give is to work of the draft I linked to above, and then move it to mainspace using the move feature in the MediaWiki software when you are ready. For starting the article Sub Rosa (novel)! We have fairly significant gaps in the coverage of literature, especially by minority communities. I hope you get the opportunity to come back and contribute to other novels articles on Wikipedia!
