OldManSin
Greetings!
My name is Jtrost, and it's my pleasure to welcome you, OldManSin, to Wikipedia! First of all, I'd like to thank you for joining the project, and contributing to articles and discussion. I hope you can continue to take part in Wikipedia, because we need more valuable editors like yourself.
If you are new and need some assistance, here are some great links to check out:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia are the primary goals and most important rules that we follow.
- These help pages are important if you'd like to learn more about specific processes.
- The tutorial is a hands-on approach to learning all about editing.
- For a "crash course" in editing, head on over to Redwolf24's Bootcamp!
- Writing a great article is a noble accomplishment. An article you start might end up on the Main Page!
- The Manual of style is an in-depth group of pages that will teach you how to make articles look their very best.
I hope you enjoy editing here, and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, find out where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Before I go, here's one more tip. When you post on talk pages, be sure to sign your name and the date by typing four tildes: ~~~~. That automatically generates your username and the date. Again, welcome, and happy editing! Maidstone
editHello, just want to discuss your reason for reverting my edits regarding Maidstone pronounciation. This is not due to accent. Check these links: http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/world/A0831238.html
Another example is Holborn in London which is pronounced "hoe-burn" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holborn
My username is IamNear
Please don't call things vandalism unless they are. For instance, this isn't vandalism, but you called it such in your edit summary. Please don't; it's a valid content dispute, a far cry from vandalism. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 20:32, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- At Wikipedia, editors are expected to treat one another with civility and respect. Irony is fine between friends, but was inappropriate in the instance I cited -- please be more careful next time. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 20:43, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
It is generally not a good idea to get rid of civility warnings from your user talk. If, however, the behaviour that got you such warnings in the first place is now irrelevant, then please feel free to get rid of them. Thank you. Also, your comments on my talk where not exactly the most civil. See also Wikipedia:No personal attacks. Thank you. Moreschi 12:09, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Eh, your user talk page is what I'm meant to edit, except that I messed up and posted first on your user page instead, for which I apologise. I'm sorry you thought that I was being overly defensive, but labelling what people say "obnoxious and rude" - even if you are correct, there are better ways of phrasing it that are less likely to cause offence. This dispute is not of any great interest to me, so I intend to let it rest here. Moreschi 09:49, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
