Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello. I see that you have already disclosed your affiliation, thanks for that. Since you have edited an article that is covered by the conflict of interest, I am posting this standard message. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate03:22, 6 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, Oliver at Commerzbank. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. —PaleoNeonate03:22, 6 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Here you misrepresented this edit as follows: As some of the biographical details were wrong or at least misleading, I did a quick update.

In that edit you actually:

  • added an infobox (has nothing to do with "wrong or misleading")
  • added the state where he was born (has nothing to do with "wrong or misleading")
  • reorganized content (has nothing to do with "wrong or misleading")
  • Many many other changes that had nothing to do with "wrong or misleading"

If I find you or colleagues directly editing content about your employer again, I will see that you (and they) are indefinitely blocked. The direct editing is bad enough, even though you apparently are aware of request edit and other best practices. The best practice is for you to not directly edit.

The misrepresentation of what you did is an entirely different matter and is unacceptable.

By the way, please take this seriously. See User talk:Florian Schaub at Merck KGaA English Wikipedia is much more strict about direct editing by corporate representatives than German WP is.

Usually I would offer to explain what you should do, but since you said you are already aware of best practices, I am not sure what there is to talk about... I will offer you User:Jytdog/How to read, in any case. Jytdog (talk) 13:50, 10 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
