There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

|
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}}
on your userpage.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
Images
editThank you for adding images from Commons. I've made some changes to the ones on articles about monasteries (which is an area I concentrate on) and I wanted to explain why:
- The changes are not intended as criticisms! what you are doing is very useful.
- I've slightly enlarged many of them, simply to make them clearer (this applies particularly to maps and plans, where the detail is important). This is mostly based on my personal preference, and there is nothing wrong with how you handled them: indeed, that may be more correct (if not as legible).
- I've edited the captions by removing "Image of...". There is no need to include this, as it's obvious that it's an image!
- I've also edited some of them by removing duplication of the article title - by which I mean that if the article is called X Abbey the image caption doesn't necessarily need to specify (for example) "X Abbey gateway": "Abbey gateway" is probably enough.
- If the image is not a contemporary photo but an older photo, or a painting, drawing, map or something similar, the additional details should be included. See WP:CAPTION for more information.
- Again, thanks for your useful edits. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Ingratis (talk) 15:05, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
editHello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. You are making lots of similar edits very quickly - you need to slow down, check your work before saving, and use a meaningful edit summary. Examples:
- This is not Vic Berry - it is a pile of scrap metal, and it could be taken as an insult, if not a WP:BLP violation.
- This edit was wrong in several ways. First, the image is nothing to do with Abingdon Road Halt railway station whatsoever, it looks like you just picked a random image of a railway station more than forty miles away. Second, you corrupted the
|borough=
parameter. - This edit was wrong in at least two ways. First, the page is not an article but a disambiguation page; second, despite the claim in the caption, there are no stations shown in the image.
The edit summaries that you are using - they mostly seem to be "Added Image #WPWP #WPWPKWR" - are cryptic to the point of incomprehensibility. "Added image" - yes, but several of those that I checked are entirely the wrong image, and you either need to explain the "#WPWP #WPWPKWR", or include a link to something that explains them. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:54, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with Redrose64 that it's very unclear what you are doing. Additionally, please stop replacing logos and wordmarks in infoboxes with photographs. ElKevbo (talk) 14:34, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- If you continued replacing logos and wordmarks in infoboxes without responding to these messages or communicating with other editors at all I will ask that you be blocked from editing. ElKevbo (talk) 14:53, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- Further: this edit was disruptive for two reasons in addition to those described above: first, the image is already present (in a somewhat larger form); second, a similar edit had already been reverted. Therefore:
- If you continued replacing logos and wordmarks in infoboxes without responding to these messages or communicating with other editors at all I will ask that you be blocked from editing. ElKevbo (talk) 14:53, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:44, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
