If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre article

edit

Hi @Onekoolcat:, Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! I was able to check out the article, and I have some feedback. For your sources, you have several links to Proquest that others cannot access unless they have subscription. Please go back to edit the references with information of the actual journal/article you are referencing. You can use the Cite tool (up on the toolbar in the VisualEditor), to generate a reference using the journals's DOI, ISSN, or other identifying information. I recommend doing that - it's usually easier for you, and easier for your readers to find your source. Let me know if you have any questions. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:56, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thank you for reaching out. As far as I know I did link the exact webpage article, their websites that ask for a subscription but then you can just exit the pop up and the article is available to everyone. How should I go about citing the article without that happening? As well, I received a message from Wikipedia saying my article cannot be published for various reasons, one being that I cannot reference some of my information, but I went to the building myself and that’s how I have the information, how do I show this so Wikipedia knows the information is correct? 142.51.115.35 (talk) 14:55, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 10:11, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

An article you recently created, Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Speedy deletion nomination of Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre

edit

Hello Onekoolcat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!
