Your recent edits
editCan I ask the reasoning behind your recent edit, changing "Mc" to "Mac" on various people's names? WATP (talk) • (contribs) 19:32, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- I see. Thankyou. WATP (talk) • (contribs) 20:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Gary McAllister
editWill you please stop editing this players default sort to "Macallister" his surname is spelt "McAllister" therefore the default sort should be the same. "Macallister" is a misspelling of his name and thus he will not be sorted correctly in categories unless the default sort is correctly spelt as "McAllister". Chappy TC 21:25, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Seconded. You've created an awful lot of work (in the form of reverts) for people to do. Congrats. - Dudesleeper · Talk 21:56, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just seen your response to WATP above. I've put the four articles I reverted back as they were when you edited them, pending confirmation that this is the way to go. - Dudesleeper · Talk 22:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Providing a link to an established policy stating Mac should be used instead of Mc would be a start. I'll then pass the word along to WP:Football. - Dudesleeper · Talk 01:26, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- As above, ta. WATP (talk) • (contribs) 14:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Defaultsort
editI'd leave it longer than a day for questions to be answered. Someone with expertise in that area might not have checked it yet. - Dudesleeper · Talk 12:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- I commented there; but, the village pump is a better place to seek consensus on matters such as this. Also, it is far more than just soccer/football articles you would be affecting. WP:WPBIO probably has something to say on the matter of alphabetizing people. Neier 14:53, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, but if Ontheveldt wants to finish off the footballing corner of Wikipedia, he/she seems to have an early consensus to do so. - Dudesleeper · Talk 16:01, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Eddie McGoldrick
editWould you please explain why the DEFAULTSORT you added to Eddie McGoldrick has his last name spelled "Macgoldrick", which is completely different from everywhere else in the article. The comment says "Please use Macgoldrick, i.e. with an 'a', to assist category sorting" but that is not his name. I am assuming there is a valid reason, and it would help to add that reason to your comment so that others can understand and don't have to repeatedly ask the question. Thanks. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
