Hello, Oren. May I ask that you remove the comment saying that anti- and post- Zionists are fascists in your opinion? To me, including that statement doesn't seem like it can be useful for the project, and the natural consequence of including it is that certain people will be offended. Ahalan Nadav! concerning your request i have a small matter to adress. it was my understanding that whatever is written in the user page is the reflection of the user's worldview and that as such it doesn't contradict Wikipedia's rule that all things written in the article zone must be NPOV, and that other things written outside the article area can contain personal POV. if i'm wrong here please correct me and i'll remove immediatley all things concerning my worldview from my user page.

You understood correctly. Separately from that though, there is also a guideline for userpage content (WP:USER). It says that certain POV statements (what it calls "polemical statements") should be avoided on user pages. The reasoning for this is that user pages are there to make it easier to work with other editors in building the encyclopedia. nadav (talk) 03:08, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

re IAF SVG

No prob for the SVG. I'm just learning how to use inksvape (an SVG editing program), and the lion in Image:Lionflag.PNG looks pretty difficult, so for now, I'll have to hold off. HERE is some HELP

to explain you where the problem with your file is i need to explain you first the diference between a bitmap image( jpg, tiff, png, bit) and a vector graphic (ai, svg, crl) Bitmap graphics are formed by a serie of color swuares called pixels, this squares change in size and consentration acording to the resolution of the image but they are always a defined number of squares. Vector graphics on the other hand are constructed images formed with points , the lines conecting them and the areas they form. in resume a vector graphoc file is nothing more that a group of coordinates and matematical relationships between points. The main advantage of vector grpahics is that each time the image is shown, the computer literally constructs the image new, and can do so in every size desired. while a bitmap has a limit of size.

now it is posible to have one kind of file inside another one, this is called embedded files. still a bitmap remais being so even if inside an svg, and therefor is not as usefullas a pure svg.

to really convert a file into a svg one should rebuild the whole image. piece by piece. i will show you with your flag what i mean:

1.- you open the flag.png with the vector program , i use adobe ilustrator: image 2.- once your base image is ther you start building up. in this case you make rectangles as big as the flag colors:image 3.- you will end with 3 squares (with black borders in the image) one white as big as the flag, and 2 smaller, one red and one green. remember in vector graphics objects ( points lines, areas) are one above the other, so that if in the same place some would cover the ones below them. in this case both colors are above the white so that at the end the only visible white will be in the midle.image 4.- we come to the lion, there are 2 methods to do this figures, one of the is from the inside out, that is to understand the yellow as area and the black as line. still vector graphic lines have always the same width along the line and are not really realisic in this kind of image. the second method outside in, understands the yellow as areas above a black area and is more precise. first you must retrace the outline of the lion image to create a single black figure:image then you must do the same with every yellow area of the lion, first an outline image that you transform in area. becouse the yellow areas are above the black siluete they cover the right aread forming the lion body:image 5.- the eyes and mouth as well of the few spot on the body are black areas on top of the yellow areas. so that at the end it would look like this:image 6.- now that you have all parts, you DELETE the reference picture so that there are no bitmaps inside the mage and save the file as svg. the file should this way contain only what you draw, that is only vectors. after uplaoding it, it looks like thi:

Hi, why does it have to be contradicting?

• i'm a monarchist cause i know that this will unify my people, and i'm a social-democrat cause i believe in the State's responsibility to assist the poor and the weak in the society (Scandinavia is a good example of monarchy with social democrat reality).
• I'm a zionist cause i care for my people and i wish i could help it, but if at the same time i can both care for my people and care for the world (i.e. by inventing invention that will help to protect my ppl and at the same time the world) - what's wrong with that?
• I'm a committed advocate of democracy and i'm also a supporter of the Pahlavi dynasty cause the ayatullah's regime in iran is anything but a democratic one, and the rule of a future pahlavi shah can be and will be a democratic one.

• You're actually a supporter of decorative monarchy, of a monarchy that's there for ceremonial and symbolic purposes, and to attract tourists. This is quite compatible with democracy actually. I would guess that you're not a supporter of the other kind of monarchy. (Modern Scandinavian monarchy is vastly different from Saudi monarchy.)
• I was under the impression that Zionism was another nationalism. And nationalism stands in opposition to universal principles like the ones you listed. But if Zionism is not nationalism (if, for example, a Zionist can support the rights of an Arab equally forcibly as the rights of a Jew), then my understanding is wrong.
• I take it that the mullahs' regime in Iran and the regal regime of the Pahlevis are not the only options for Iranian governance. Unless I'm mistaken there is this thing called democracy. (Where would social democrats be without the democrat part?) So, preferring the Shah over the Ayatollah is one thing; preferring the Pahlevi dynasty over all the other alternatives is quite another. Responding to something you left on my talk page

I am not Palestinian nor am I Jewish, nor am I anti-semitic. On my wiki page it states I support the liberation of Palestine --- how does that make me Palestinian? Why are you surprised that I have "Jews" (many of the "Jews" on my page are actually Atheists) on page? Can people who support the liberation of Palestine ultimately be anti-Semitic? Just a word: if you intend editing in difficult areas of the encyclopaedia, it is best to make no assumptions about someone's background, and how that might or might not factor into what they know and how they edit. I know that your enquiries are innocent, but in controversial areas asking about that sort of thing leads to viewing the other person's edits through a particular lens, and is quite unhelpful eventually. I understand the appeal of strongly a social-democratic system, and it's probably true that it's about the best capitalism has ever offered people.

But there's something I don't get. Maybe it's just because I'm an American, but I can't wrap my head around the idea that a person can call themselves both a monarchist and a democrat. By any meaningful definition, they're opposites and are only compatible to the degree that the monarchy (or democracy) is symbolic and therefore meaningless. Ha ha, well I said "its naive, but people could dream". You're not correct about the impossibility of Greater Syrians living together in peace. These past 80 years have just been an ugly phase for Arabs (losses to Israel, loss of the Soviet ally, civil wars everywhere [Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, even Palestine], corrupt and weak-hearted leaders who rule with an iron fist and with America's blessing, destruction of land at the hands of foreign armies and of course the rise of Islamist extremism). But look at America, 30 years ago, hell even 10 years ago you couldn't imagine a black man becoming the country's president. Now look. The people of Syria are almost exactly the same in dialect, foods, general culture, even color and facial features and they've lived together for centuries. It's just proxy wars and selfishness on the part of the leadership that keeps us divided. The new generations are different, I assure you. You may think of Israel as your country which could never be defeated and will always remain, but most Muslims see it as a Crusader-like state that will eventually be liberated. Just like during the Crusades, the Franks thrived when the Arabs and Muslims were divided, but when they were united under one leadership and had one large, well-trained and well-disciplined army they were defeated. The Outremer lasted for almost a century, before Saladin and the Arabs defeated them. Anyway, things are much different now. As long as America is the only superpower on the block and it continues its unwavering support for Israel and continues its military and political influence in the Arab world, the Arab situation will remain at the status quo or will get even worse. I really worry about the fate of Palestine, Jerusalem, Gaza and the 5 million refugees if things stay the way they are now.

We really shouldn't discuss our views on wikipedia (I hope I don't get in trouble for doing so now). And btw, to be honest, as of right now I'd rather be an Arab citizen of Israel than a citizen of any Arab country. It's a pretty good life actually. First off, I'm glad you're not offended ;-) Second, you are right about the Crusaders, they just wanted the Holy Land in their domain, they really didn't settle down. Israel might stay here, but I don't think it will ever be in peace. After all it's an island in an Arab sea that hates its guts. Maybe some governments recognize and accept Israel (and we don't how long that will last), but the general populace of those countries (not to mention Egypt) have a great resentment of Israel. And to be honest its not about us "hating the Jews" (after all Arabs and Jews had an extremely prosperous relationship for centuries and suffered together during the Crusades and the Inquisition) it's about any foreign people occupying their homeland. It could have been Indians, Chinese, Italians or Africans, but our hate towards that foreign state would be the same. Also, I understand the Jewish people have ancient ties to the land and I stress out the word ancient, but those millions of refugees had even closer ties to it. They and their ancestors had lived there for centuries if not millenia and they established cities and towns throughout the land. Plus most of the new Jewish towns were built atop the destroyed or depopulated Arab towns if not adjacent to them. I don't know what will happen in the future, will Israel be eliminated, will the Arabs finally be silenced and surrender or will both share the land as a single state. Kingdom of Kongo Flag

Hi, Oren. I'm writing u in regards to the Kingdom of Kongo flag. I undid your edit and put the original one (that I put up) back. I did this as no disrespect to you, and please do not take it as such. The last thing I want to do is offend someone who took time out of their schedule to help on an article I care about it. The reason I changed the flag, is because a comparison between yours (which has straight ends) and the model I've seen in the links below is so different. I believe the rounded edges of the red cross are significant and not just the result of pixelization. Check out the links below to see what I'm talking about.
