Welcome!

Hello, PM800, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Hi thanks for the comments but as the person in question admits he has no qualifications in the discipline I think you would agree the comments are in fact constructive. Or is it your subjectiviity getting in the way of what Wikipedia is supposed to be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.253.235.159 (talk) 08:53, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Notability of Justin Desai

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Justin Desai, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Justin Desai seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Justin Desai, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Deletion

Hi. The total content was: "Ziggy Hasbrouck was a reserve infielder for the 1916 and 1917 Chicago White Sox." That's a speedy for lack of content. He's certainly worth an article, but there isn't anything here other than an opening sentence. Furthermore, there's no need to come onto my talk page with an attitude. I'm only too happy to help resolve things like this. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:09, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Fred Snodgrass

I like all the edits you made to the Fred Snodgrass article. I do a lot of this kind of cleanup myself. However, I noticed that you ran his New York Times obit verbatim. This is clearly in violation of WP:CP so I removed the material. If I might suggest, you could quote a portion of the obit and summarize the rest. Just make sure that the amount of material you use from the Times adheres to the guidelines. Thanks. Allreet (talk) 23:14, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake. The entire section was in red, so I probably read the edit dif wrong. My apologies. Allreet (talk) 23:21, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

While your work on baseball team-season pages is appreciated, it would be more helpful if you would create links to the proper pages. For instance, on the 1912 Boston Red Sox season page, you created two links to Joe Wood. If you click on that, you will notice that rather than going where you want to go, it goes to a list of people named Joe Wood. I have fixed this so that the link points properly, to Smoky Joe Wood. Many of your recent edits have been pointing to these disambiguation pages, which means that other people have to go in and clean these pages up so that they link properly, which means that the same job is being done twice. If you could be a bit more careful in making these edits, it would be greatly helpful. Thanks very much. -Dewelar (talk) 21:05, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Removal of maintenance templates

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Kevin Shannon. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. -NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

That "reference" you pointed out leads to a link that provides no information about the subject. You must link to content that specifically mentions the subject. -NatureBoyMD (talk) 19:48, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

James Stephen Smith

I am not particularly interested in getting into an edit war with you, but I consider it very rude to undo an edit which was originally done because of POV considerations. It is not "common knowledge", and even if it were you are obligated to provide a source to back it up. This event is 23 years old and is basically forgotten in the minds of most fans. Perhaps YOU thing the story of Steve Smith begins and ends with this one goal, but I disagree. Please add a reliable source, or do not undo edits done in good faith.--Freshfighter9 (talk) 23:32, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

File:Paul-waner.jpg in the 1927 World Series Article

Hi, could you not put File:Paul-waner.jpg in 1927 World Series? This is a non-free image without a rationale for use in this particular article, and the use of this image would only be decorative, and would not be considered fair use. If you really believe it is fair use, you're more than welcome to write a rationale based on WP:NONFREE. Thanks. --Mosmof (talk) 22:46, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Vaughn Snyder

A tag has been placed on Vaughn Snyder requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — 141.156.165.77 (talk) 11:02, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Repost of Macy's Day Parade (Green Day song)

A tag has been placed on Macy's Day Parade (Green Day song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. Proposed deletion of Tom Savage (football)

The article Tom Savage (football) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article on a non-professional athlete, so he doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE, makes no claims of being notable under the general notability guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:LerynFranco.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 16:22, 14 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 16:22, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

WP:BITE

Hi PM800. Sorry to remind you of something you're probably already aware of, but Wikipedia encourages editors to be polite to other editors, even when they're wrong, and to encourage newcomers, even where their efforts don't actually end up being helpful. I'm specifically referring to this edit you made, where it probably would have been more gentlemanly to explain to the user what they did wrong, or failing that settle for reverting their edit without insulting them. Thank you. - DustFormsWords (talk) 04:45, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Actually, I've just reviewed your recent contributions. "Dense"[3], "dumbass"[4][5], "worthless turd"[6] and "stupid little message"[7] are not appropriate ways to address another editor under any circumstances. You should take pains to be more civil to other editors in future (including in your edit summaries) or you may face administrative action, including blocks. Thanks. - DustFormsWords (talk) 04:51, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

Hello, per your request, I've granted you Rollback rights! Just remember:

If you have any questions, please do let me know.

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. --Two for the price of one! While I'm here, please do remember to warn the vandals you revert. :) Thanks, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:01, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Coach K

Hi there. I saw you added back a bunch of external links to Coach K's page. I'm not sure why, as you didn't include an edit summary. Anyway, take a look at the policy for external links when you get a chance so you can ensure that your edits are as productive as possible in the future.

More broadly, it also seems like you may want to consider re-evaluating your general approach to editing here. While I'm glad not to have had any problems with you myself, a review of your talk page suggests that you sometimes act in a way that reasonable people could construe as running afoul of WP:DICK. In short, be nice to people and extend them the courtesy of letting them know why you're reverting their changes (especially when they've taken the time to explain theirs). As you surely know, failing to do so leads to more serious sanctions, including a block on your account.

Happy editing. — Bdb484 (talk) 06:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Reversions

Hi there PM, VASCO from Portugal here,

regarding your reversions of my edits as anon (Jesús Gámez, Josemi and Cristian Díaz), i agree that the summaries might have been a little "suspicious", but i did the following: fix redirects, correct wrong info and revert some inaccuracies. Does that merit a reversion? I fail to see where.

In this case (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jes%C3%BAs_G%C3%A1mez&diff=376877342&oldid=376876763), i also fail to see which word in my summary striked you as "uncivil" or "offensive".

I have zero tolerance for "wise guy" edits and zero+1 for vandals, no respect for those whatsoever. As you can see in my account, as you i have rollback rights too, so i must be on the right side of WP... :)

That said, i apologize for any incovenience and/or misunderstandings, keep up the good work - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:51, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

Please stop using rollback to undo my legitimate edits, as you have been doing on Eddie Collins and another article. Rollback is only to be used against vandalism or other instances where it is perfectly clear why you're reverting. It's totally unclear why you would revert my edits, which first removed slanderous content, and then added a page number and additional content from a reference. See Wikipedia:Rollback#When_to_use_rollback. If you keep following me around and reverting me, I know where to report you. --74.138.214.5 (talk) 01:02, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive comments.
If you continue to make personal attacks on other people as you did at User_talk:173.196.174.187, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. You have been warned several times about personal attacks against other editors. Please stop immediately.   This is the only warning you will receive regarding your disruptive comments.
The next time you make a personal attack as you did at User talk:Netalarm, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. →ROUX 08:05, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for personal attacks. Calling another editor a moron is completely unacceptable. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. I'm sorry about this, but I cannot turn a blind eye to such an attack. Wikipedians are volunteers and calling another volunteer a "moron" is not conducive to a pleasant editing environment. If you're stressed, step away from the computer and get some fresh air or something. If something is bothering you on-wiki or IRL, I'm happy to talk about it by email, but I'm afraid there is no excuse for such an attack. Hi. Rickyrab here. For some reason I was autoblocked because of PM800 because I use similar IPs. Which makes me wonder if PM800 goes to Rutgers University (who owns the IPs in question). To PM800: Wikipedia is a respectful community. We may have our disagreements, and they may be fierce sometimes, but NOBODY is an "idiot" or "moron" in the Wikipedia community. We are all (presumably) people (well, maybe the occasional e.t. from outer space or faery or god or demon chimes in, but I doubt it). The point is, respect other people and other beings, and they will respect you. — Rickyrab | Talk 02:13, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Nobody is "ugly", either, and nobody deserves to be called anything that begins with the word "fucking". (I read edit histories sometimes to see what the heck went on that caused blocking. Sometimes I read edit histories for lulz, too, but that's a separate item and a leisure pursuit. — Rickyrab | Talk 02:24, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Warnings

Please refrain from abusing warning or blocking templates. Doing so is a violation of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Just because I trout slapped you doesn't make me vandal. Trout slaps are for when users who need to change their editing style. You do need to change your style. You constantly attack people and call them names. It got you blocked once already, and you're lucky that it was only once. if you don't stop you'll get permently blocked. And rember you can't warn people just because you don't like their edits. 74.89.58.36 (talk) 02:18, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

On a side note, I'm suprised you didn't complain about being blocked. 74.89.58.36 (talk) 02:20, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

ARE YOU SERIOUS? I am not vandalizing anything. It will be a lot easier to get you blocked then me right now 74.89.58.36 (talk) 02:23, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
