Welcome!
editHey Phil-- welcome to Wikipedia. I'm also on the WikiProject for the Pritzker Military Library, and will probably be seeing you pretty soon. TeriEmbrey has let us know that you've just started, and I've looked over your work on James Dietz (artist). I know the article was nominated for deletion, but I think given the sources and the legitimate database you've used, I think it's likely to be kept. You're off to a great start. I'm not sure how much background you have in using Wikipedia, but if you're not sure of how to do something, or if you've run into a situation (e.g. deletion) where you're not sure how to proceed, please feel free to ask either Keilana or myself. We are both fairly active, but in case you need a quicker response, I'll send you an invite to the Teahouse below, where a number of experienced editors can answer any question you might have about editing or using Wikipedia. Hope to see you soon, I, JethroBT drop me a line 20:10, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

DYK for James Dietz
editOn 1 November 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article James Dietz, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that James Dietz worked as a commercial illustrator creating movie posters and book covers before switching to historical subjects? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/James Dietz. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hello, PMathew42. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Sandra Grimes, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Sandra Grimes to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.
Thanks, Alex discussion ★ 17:44, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Hey Phil. I saw your edit to the PMML article here earlier today. Thanks for the additions-- I think they are helpful. However, because we'd like to be careful about what goes on the article given that we are associated with the institution, from here on out, please refrain from editing the article directly for now and instead post suggested changes to the article talk page instead. We're following a process where editors not involved with the PMML can review our suggestions and implement them on the talk page. I realize this is a slower process than what you are used to, but it's a principle we agreed to follow based on conflict of interest concerns, feedback from others in the Wikipedia community, and a mutual agreement between myself, Keilana, and staff at the PMML. You may have noticed that I've edited the page recently, but these were uncontroversial (i.e. changing the name of the institution and replacing the old logo with the new one.) Basically, we need to have outside editors check our improvements before they are implemented, so please try to stick to that in the future. I, JethroBT drop me a line 20:50, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Uploading the image for Sandra Grimes.
editHeya. So, about uploading that image. I'm assuming that the PMML is willing to release the photograph under a free license, otherwise we cannot use it. "Wikipedia-only" permission is insufficient in this case. I would check that out with Nate and perhaps TeriEmbrey can weigh in here. There are two things that need to happen:
- Uploading the image: The image will need to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. If you have access to the image, you can go to this upload page to get started. It walks you through everything pretty easily. When you get to the
This site requires you to provide copyright information for this work, to make sure everyone can legally reuse it
instructions, select "This file is not my own work." Under "Source", you should provide a web address where the image was found, or if the photo was sent to you by the photographer (Nate), you can just say "Sent to me from photographer." Under "Author", put down Nate's name and note his affiliation with the PMML. Importantly, under the copyright choices, select "Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0" Then just fill in the appropriate info about the image to describe it. - Providing evidence of permission: The copyright owner (Nate, or whoever is the copyright holder of the photo-- TeriEmbrey may be able to clarify this) needs to e-mail
permissions-commons@wikimedia.org
with a statement of consent similar to the one found at WP:CONSENT that shows they have released the image under that specific license.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, I, JethroBT drop me a line 22:13, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Rescue of Captain Phillips
editThere already is a wikipedia article relating to the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama and the rescue of Captain Phillips. I am wanting to add some of this information to one section of the CTF 151 page. I won't give a full detailed account but only a section that is relevant to the page. Is this ok?

Ram Villivalam Edit
editYou made a no description edit to the page Ram Villivalam that deleted the mention of his status as the first Asian American Illinois State Senator. What was your reasoning for this deletion?--Mpen320 (talk) 04:35, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
