Pain Doc
Welcome!
editHello, Pain Doc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was British Pain Society, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! 331dot (talk) 11:32, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for changing your username; if you are affiliated with the organization you are writing about, please review the above. 331dot (talk) 11:33, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Dear 331dot, Many thanks for your comments! Yes I am starting to use wikipedia for the first time and need to gain more experience. I am a member of the British Pain Society, hence why I am interested in creating a wiki page for this organisation. Apologies if there may have been some errors in my initial content, I had intended to fill out the details in a more comprehensive way but wanted to get started so that there was something on wiki rather than nothing .... and this may then prompt other wiki users to contribute.
I understand that you may have concerns regarding conflict of interest, but I am not in a position of authority within the society i.e. chairman, secretary, treasurer etc. I am on a committee of the society, but would only want to write objective content. ( I hope my writing reflects that). In general terms, it would seem unlikely that people who are not affiliated with the society would have an interest in writing content for the page.
I will write drafts and submit to you before revising further. In the meantime, it is also possible that others may start contributing.
Best wishes Pain Doc (talk) 12:57, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hello
- Just FYI I have moved your post to the bottom of this page; typically new posts are added to the bottom of a page or discussion, as I am doing now. Just so you are aware.
- Please understand that any association with this Society is considered a conflict of interest. You don't need to be in a position of authority within the Society. As long as you are open about your association(as you are above) your problems should be minimal. I would suggest that you post on the talk page of the article(click "Talk" at the top of the article when viewing it, then edit normally) something similar to what you posted above explaining your position. If others that are associated with the Society want to contribute, they will need to do the same thing.
- You don't need to submit suggested changes to me personally- simply post them on the talk page, especially if the suggested change is anything more than the most minor change.
- I highly doubt the page is at risk of deletion as such a longstanding organization seems notable. The page will need independent reliable sources to support its content, to ensure a neutral point of view- but I suspect that won't be too hard.
- If you have any other questions, you can post them here, or Wikipedia has a friendly area for new users to ask questions called the Teahouse; click this to go there. Thank you 331dot (talk) 13:10, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Many Thanks 331dot! I'll do that Pain Doc (talk) 20:48, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
