"This editor knows that the scientific method permits to develop the best available explanations to understand the world and our origins."
This user knows that that user needs to work on their English. Did you mean,
"This editor thinks the scientific method provides the most plausible explanations about our origins and the world in which we live"?
I'm trying not to be snarky; how did I do? YoPienso (talk) 02:01, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Yopienso: Thanks for the comment, I don't see your comment as an attack. The day I wrote it, I remember the challenge of fitting it all into the available space; I didn't return to it since. English is also my second language, so you may have noticed something I didn't. I'll try to explain the wording:
- knows - an understanding, not a belief
- permits to develop - through application of the scientific method, explanations are developed (an active process, leading to them being provided)
- best available - similar to most plausible, but it's not only about plausibility; models change as they are improved, so the current state of the best science in a particular field is currently the best knowledge we have on the topic
- the world - we of course live in it, but it extends beyond our habitat
- our origins - common descent, abiogenesis, evolution of the solar system, galaxy formation, baryogenesis, etc...
- My comment is not intended to close the discussion, feel free to reply and offer suggestions. I also appreciate the move to discuss instead of directly editing the userspace box. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 07:40, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
