Help: Reviewing Articles

I am interested in reviewing articles (as there is a severe backlog) however I need help in reviewing them (ex. Placing the submission in review, notifying users when their articles were reviewed, approval of my reviews, etc.). Paquito490 (talk) 04:53, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your offer of help! However, you seem a very new editor, with less than 100 edits, only four of which were to articlespace (the redirects you created. Reviewing drafts requires a thorough knowledge of Wikipedia's policies on notability, verifiability and original research, as well as experience in spotting copyright violations, judging the reliability of sources and so on. Thus you should probably gain more experience with editing articles yourself before reviewing others' work. Huon (talk) 12:48, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
When you say "editing articles" you mean I should try to improve them? Paquito490 (talk) 00:55, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes. Improve existing articles, correct errors, expand them, maybe write a new one yourself or two. Editing articles without an intent to improve them would be ... less helpful.   Huon (talk) 17:33, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Very well. I suppose improving articles leads to learning how to review them? Paquito490 (talk) 00:25, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
I'd say so. If you have experience writing good content yourself, you can much more easily determine whether the content written by others is appropriate or not. You'll also gain more experience with the intricacies of wiki code, which is helpful for those drafts that are acceptable in principle but require some cleanup. Huon (talk) 00:58, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
I can see why it's better to edit and improve articles as a start. I hope you enjoy contributing as well. I also hope you enjoy being an administrator. People like you keep Wikipedia vandalism-free. :) Paquito490 (talk) 03:48, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
I am going to make a redirect request to contribute to Wikipedia. I hope that it's successful. Paquito490 (talk) 02:45, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
There's no need for you to request redirects in that way; you have already created several redirects yourself. WP:AFC/R is meant for IP editors, who cannot create redirects, and for those registered editors who don't know how to do so. Huon (talk) 13:02, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
I never knew I could go and create redirects myself. So it's that easy? Paquito490 (talk) 16:45, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes. As they say, be bold! But also be careful! Huon (talk) 16:59, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
What a great day it is. It's my birthday today! Paquito490 (talk) 22:05, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Belated happy birthday!

I'm a little late to the party, but at least I brought you some birthday pie... Huon (talk) 00:03, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Hey Huon. Thanks for the birthday pie. It's been a good birthday and look forward to another year of life. Cheers. Paquito490 (talk) 03:26, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
