However, if one really would like the perfect IDE, I can do nothing else than recommending the Code::Blocks studio. I read about it here on WiPe first, and have not had a boring moment with it since I downloaded it. It is a cross-paltform, free, open source, etc. application.
And for you other GNU/GPL-freaks out there, it has the GPLv3 license. The reason I write about it here, is that with the right compiler/assembler/linker to it, everything is possible, and you have to love all that customizable, reprogrammable, little features.
I now simultaneously writes my own RTS-game, and doing a really deep, first-priority effort trying to learn my female cat the beauty of the x86 assembly, the latter is doing some progress however; but it takes some time.
