Conflict of interest
editHello, Patrium3039. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara ✉ 01:08, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Request reason:
The edit request was purely factual as Patrium Intelligence is the latest Private Intelligence Agency. There is no COI and I am not receiving any payment from Patrium Intelligence. The edit and previous access to Wikipedia has been through a VPN which is not now used. I would also like to add the page for Patrium Intelligence on Wikipedia. All material can be verified Patrium3039 (talk) 09:28, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I can't say that I disagree with Athaenara's assessment. I think you will need to want to edit about subjects unrelated to your field and are perhaps not as close to your heart as this field of subject matter. If you have other subjects you would want to edit about, please tell what those might be to the next reviewer, I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:14, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
You have "Patrium" in your username. This is just a coincidence? 331dot (talk) 10:17, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. This is the first time I have used Wikipedia to enter details or facts about anything. I may do again in future for other topics or I may not. The username is Patrium3039 simply because it is easier to remember as the topic I am submitting information about. For example if I decide to enter facts about Air, I might have chosen a username of Air3039. If that is not permitted then I will retain just one username in future for all topics. ApologiesPatrium3039 (talk) 12:11, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Subsequent comments should be standard comments, as only one formal unblock request is needed. How did you come to write about Patrium Intelligence as a topic? 331dot (talk) 12:16, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello 331dot. I am still finding my feet and new to this so forgive any technical errors. There were two reasons why I wanted to bring the Patrium group to attention. First I have worked in a similar industry for 20 years and I can spot the real deal when I see it. Secondly, the firm came to light because of their incredibly forward thinking views on diverse recruitment and employment. It is a subject close to my heart. They are very ethical and active in promoting the rights of transgender, gay, LGBT and recruitment of neurodiverse groups within the business intelligence arena. Something that is genuinely new to what is an old established business. As a minority myself I came across the firm and found the innovative thinking they support is in many areas ground breaking. Exponential technology for instance is a new (by definition) area they are responsible for developing. Of course I would love to learn more about them as time goes on and perhaps I might, but the motivation for including this firm was for education and an exploration of facts. They a quite simply the newest Private Intelligence Agency in the UK, they promote diverse recruitment in ground breaking ways and they have experienced academics there who explore new concepts specific to intelligence such as exponential intelligence. Thank you for your time Patrium3039
- Athaenara What do you think? 331dot (talk) 18:10, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- What is "exponential intelligence" exactly? – Athaenara ✉ 22:41, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello :Athaenara. I realise I am very new to this Wikipedia malarkey but I am wondering if I am being toyed with slightly here. I am somewhat perplexed as I was under the impression this was a formal method of submitting information and now appealing a block? If the process is to question the subject matter of every piece of information submitted to Wikipedia then so be it, but I would hazard a guess that it could be a lengthy process. The alternative scenario is that my original hypothesis is actually correct and that perhaps this is amusing. In any event the very fact that the mighty encyclopedic machine of Wikipedia is asking me what exponential intelligence is, is in itself a confirmation that I am indeed submitting previously unknown, useful information. Because if you don't know, and it is not on Wikipedia, then it is virtually by process of elimination ...new and therefore should be categorized for inclusion should it not? If my cynical side is wrong and you are genuinely interested, then put simply "Exponential Intelligence" is a term coined by an American academic Jonathan Cavendish who defined a specific system of measurement which draws a link between Exponential Technological Growth and variables normally particular to business and government intelligence organisations i.e measurement of growth in certain areas of technology which are commonly used by business intelligence firms. Is this an area of sufficient interest to Wikipedia for it to determine whether the public would be interested in it or not? Or is it a subject you do not feel is of interest? If you feel this firm and the subject in general is not suitable for inclusion onto Wikipedia then please indicate by way of reply. In any event my gratitude in anticipation for your time.Patrium3039 —Preceding undated comment added 03:35, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello :Athaenara. I am sorry to trouble you once more. I suspect this process will end with my submission being blocked. The reasons for which I have no idea.
- There is no ulterior motive other than stating the facts as I have already done and I am sure the world will be more worse off not knowing about a relatively new school of thought or piece of factual data than it otherwise was. Who determines whether these facts are in the interest of the people or not? If it is yourself or Wikipedia then so be it. It is a private enterprise is it not? So, given your clear knowledge about this process I hope you would share some of it with this ageing techno-virgin as I call myself?I suspect the firm will want a page of its own at some point on Wikipedia. I am clearly not wise enough to advise them how to go about it. I am not entirely certain why the my factual edit was blocked, but looking at the responses it is either than you feel it was done for publicity or, I was not 100% independent because my username had Patrium in it.
- I explained the latter. It was straight forward enough to most. As far as publicity is concerned, well that is down to the firm itself. I already explained.
- I also assume that every single firm or person or subject on Wikipedia is written and submitted by everyone who has nothing whatsoever to do with that firm, person or subject?I am sure it is an often asked question, so forgive my ignorance but it is odd. If, when I next speak to my colleagues or ex-colleagues who work in this area I will make absolutely certain that they never consider submitting a page on behalf of someone else ever. Not now you have been so gracious as to make it so explicit to the uninitiated such as myself. Thank you so much. Patrium3039 —Preceding undated comment added 05:28, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Patrium3039: That was enlightening in a very limited sense, thank you. "This Wikipedia malarkey" and "the mighty encyclopedic machine of Wikipedia" includes Wikipedia:Too long; didn't read. I recommend it.
- @331dot: I don't think this user is here to help build the encyclopedia, I think he's here to defy the No original research policy, generate a little spam, and to be high-maintenance generally. – Athaenara ✉ 08:20, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- Well I don't know what to say. I guess its one of the benefits of being judge jury and executioner. When one cannot formulate an argument one simply says no. Intellecutally stunted maybe, but I guess you have to do what you have to do. I was honest in my part. You did not find what I submitted interesting. So what? Is that really how Wikipedia works? I was open and honest and asked to know more. In doing so, you shut me down for no reason. That's just plain old bullying. Just as with any other large coproration which control the final edit. You are no different. What you should have done was maintain an open mind and advised me. Did you actually say "see what you think" to your colleague? Did you actually ask me what "exponential intelligence" is? Do you question the subject matter of every submission to elighten yourself? Did you really say "enlightening in a very limited sense?". Who the hell are you to decide what is or is not enlightening. I'm sorry but this smacks of small persons complex and I dont mean physically. How very very odd. So you "Athaenara" only accept submissions that are interesting and fill your day? Really? And to end it all, I have to submit something I do not have an interest in? - @Patrium3039: The bottom line is this: would you like to edit the encyclopedia and help to build it? All we have to go on at this point is one edit which linked a Patrium agency advert and your diatribes here. If you are interested in being an encyclopedia editor here, please do tell us about that. – Athaenara ✉ 23:42, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Athaenara. Thank you for your reply. I will answer your question by simply being as honest as I think I have been. Yes I would like to be able to edit on Wikipedia and genuinely find it fascinating, but I do not wish to do it full time. I am sorry if I came across as attacking, that is really not me. I was simply being honest and accept my limitations hence asking for advice. That really is it. Regarding Patrium and my diatribe, I certainly was not trying to advertise. It is 100% as I said. The very nature of their work means they do not advertise anyway. I genuinely did not know that a submission or edit had to come from someone who had no affiliation whatsoever. I would have offered to do their page for them, but I have not been asked and I think maybe that is best for a professional. I am not a time waster or intent on abusing anyone. I more than anyone hate the sound of my own voice too. Patrium3039

- Attacking other users will not help get you unblocked, and may cause you to lose access to this page too. 331dot (talk) 17:54, 29 July 2019 (UTC)
