Curtis Banks
I've reverted your change to the Curtis Banks page (adding a category) as it is not, in fact, a bank — the "Banks" in its name comes from the surnames of its two co-founders, Rupert Curtis and Chris Banks. — Zcbeaton (talk) 19:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

re:AWB script summary?
I've just implemented the changes you suggested. There is now a checkbox next to the summary box, which will automatically append (via AWB script) to your summary when it's checked. The summary box will also be re-enabled when the script is not busy loading something. So, when the status bar at the bottom doesn't show a loading icon, the summary box will be editable. Thanks for the suggestions! Joeytje50 (talk) 16:26, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Joeytje50: It works great, thanks! I would suggest putting a link to the AWB script page, but I'm unsure it will let you do that. Paul2520 (talk) 21:33, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

At the point you marked the article as patrolled its only verifiable source was actually for another place, Creta, Oklahoma. Take care please. Bazj (talk) 07:43, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Your edit on List of Crayon Shin-chan episodes
I just wanted to comment that the note references were indeed gone at the time I removed the notes section. The edit after mine by Callmemirela reinstated those, but that editor did not reinstate the (now needed) note section. I should probably have noticed that they were re-added (obviously the page is on my watchlist), but... Anyway, thanks for fixing the problem. Rwessel (talk) 02:47, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- I apologize about this. I was reverting a user who had removed sources just because "writers are no longer needed". That does not justify such removal. Again, I apologize. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} ♑ 02:50, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Citation problems
Thanks I welcome your input.
First off, it seems the Citation app has a problem. I use it, add citations, then 12 hours later, all these errors about undefined references appear. I have put in many hours trying to see whether I have to use double quotes, separate citations with blank lines, and sometimes I luck in (eg Heritage Gardens in Australia) and it is all sorted out, then with this Garden Sanctuary page, the definitions problem cannot be solved.
When I use the template for referencing citations, I only get [1] and then an "undefined" problem message appears. This seems to imply that [1] is not enough, it should be [1] to get rid of the problem. WHY?
I need to walk through the code for referencing citations, and I don't know where to read that to understand what the error really is. Can you help? I seem to spend wasteful hours on these referencing problems, while vast sections of "Heritage Gardens in Australia" need attending to.
The latter page "Heritage Gardens in Australia" takes two months to finish, and the 1 day job for "Garden Sanctuary" drags on to two or three days when the referencing problems crop up. I have deliberately left all my reformatting on the page so I can get help. So there must be some tricks to citations which I am not aware of. Can you look at these (three) citation attempts and tell me which is wrong, which is right, and what my problem really is? Thanks Jon
- Hi, Jon (@Ruwoltj:). Within the text of the article, the reference should be made like<ref name="Optional Name">{{cite web |title=... |url=...}}</ref>, where "cite web" can be replaced with "cite book", etc. Each citation has different parameters (for example, a book has chapters, but a web citation typically does not). I think one of the problems is having groups (group=) in your <ref> calls. Groups are typically used to distinguish footnotes. So I would remove those.
- Typically you call the reference once, and later uses you call it like <ref name="Name here" />.
- Does this help? Feel free to try in your sandbox, or if you test it on the page, use the "Show preview" button before you "Save changes". = paul2520 22:33, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

adding a link to a protected page
(@Paul2520:) Hi Paul, Thank you for your message. I did edit the information about the Roman adjective "paulus" which stated it was cognate of the new English word "few". I thought that there may be some shared root, but the two words couldn't possible be cognate. That's why I deleted that information. But as you pointed it out, I didn't provide any information or back-up evidence on my edit. I apologize for that. However, I wanted to add a source on the page about Paul the Apostle, but I saw it was protected until 2020. I recently stumbled upon this site: http://www.christianitytoday.com/history/issues/issue-47/real-writer-of-romans.html and have seen many books arguing the authorship of Paul's epistles. On the wiki page about Paul the Apostle this is addressed, but not the authorship of Romans. I was thinking, maybe Wikipedia can add this information as well to make people aware that it is not widely believed that Paul was indeed the author of Romans?
Sorry for bothering you, I myself have just been researching this topic recently and found some missing bits from the Wiki article and thought to notify you about that.
- Hi, Antara1, and thanks for following-up! It looks like you're pretty new here, hence why you can't edit Paul the Apostle quite yet. It's actually semi-protected, so once you've been around at least four days (as you have) and made at least 10 edits (you're on your way), you should be able to edit the page.
- If you would like help, or tell me exactly what you think should be changed, I would be happy to provide assistance in any way I can.
- Also I just want to note that you should always make a point to sign your talk page comments with four tildes (
~~~~
). This will add a signature and time stamp, like I will end this comment. Once again, welcome to Wikipedia, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything! = paul2520 17:07, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi Paul, Thanks for the follow-up. I don't know if I'm going to edit 10 pages in the near future so if you have the time and wish, please feel free to add the information on the wiki page of Paul the apostle about him not being the author of Romans providing the link I included in our previous chat.
Best regards, Antara
Message regarding lack of summary
Your page says to not message you and instead link you, the message says to message you, might want to fix that.
The only edit I have made in the last year was changing a link of `Text -> Text + Club` to `Text -> Text`, which I made because the direction of the link was fundamentally confusing, and, ultimately less helpful.
I feel that this is ultimately self evident, as if you are looking for "X" you do not want to find "X Club", especially if the text link is "X", and it is in a list of things titled as "X" and none of them link to "X Club"
- Hi 73.18.28.92, I'm not following what you're saying about leaving me a message. Can you be more specific? You seem to have done it right, following the link to my talk page and writing me here.
- As far as your change on List of hobbies, you may be right. The article lapidary club (original link) seemed to me to be more of a hobby than lapidary, the page about the individuals who do this work. And since you edited anonymously and didn't leave an edit summary, I undid the change with the mindset, "why fix what isn't broken?"
- If you think your change makes more sense, feel free to put it back, but leave an edit summary. And if someone else undoes your change, the best place to discuss would be Talk:List of hobbies. = paul2520 (talk) 17:01, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Nomination for Adminship
Mdriscoll03 would like to nominate you to become an administrator. Please visit Wikipedia:Requests for adminship to see what this process entails, and then contact Mdriscoll03 to accept or decline the nomination. A page has been created for your nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Paul2520. If you accept the nomination, you must state and sign your acceptance. You may also choose to make a statement and/or answer the optional questions to supplement the information your nominator has given. Once you are satisfied with the page, you may post your nomination for discussion, or request that your nominator do so. |
Possible Nomination for Adminship
@Paul2520: Hello Paul, I see that you have made some amazing contributions to Wikipeida. I am here to ask you if you would mind if I nominate you for adminship. Please get back to me as soon as possible with your response. Thank you and have a nice day. Mdriscoll03 (talk) 19:47, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Mdriscoll03: I'm humbled, and would be interested to hear what contributions you find amazing. You are welcome to nominate me. I'm not very familiar with the process, but I'm sure it would be a great learning experience. = paul2520 (talk) 02:43, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mdriscoll03. I've filled in my response to your nomination. Would you care to review it, and make any suggestions (perhaps on what I should focus on or what edits of mine I should be most proud of) before it goes live? If it is ready, feel free to kick it off. = paul2520 (talk) 12:29, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- Paul2520 I have added your nomination to the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. I have also added a notice to your user page that says that you have been nominated to become an administrator.
A kitten for you!
I noticed a serious problem on your talkpage: not enough kittens!
Well deserved for taking everything in stride and maintaining a good attitude about the ordeal. As I said, if I can ever be of help in any way, feel free to drop by. GMGtalk 19:55, 6 October 2017 (UTC) |
Similar to my message above, thank you for taking advice and criticism on board - that in itself is probably one of the most important traits of a future administrator! -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 21:11, 6 October 2017 (UTC) |
RFA
Hi Paul2520, thank you for offering to serve the community as an administrator - your enthusiasm to help is commendable! Administrators are well rounded Wikipedians who have knowledge and experience in a range of areas. At the moment, the community does not feel you have the required breadth of experience, and I would suggest withdrawing your candidacy, preferably before the RfA is SNOW closed. Your contributions here are appreciated, and I'd like to take a moment to personally thank you for the time and effort you've put into this project (and for gems such as the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library!). If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a message on my talk page -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 18:53, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- Another, Paul, is probably "keep your friends close... and your nominator closer" ;) — fortunavelut luna 19:32, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, There'sNoTime and Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi for the kind words and advice. And, Chris Troutman, your RfA criteria will be helpful for me to think about going forward :-) = paul2520 (talk) 14:48, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- So you know, mine isn't the only one. RfA is a very subjective, rather than objective, process. I only offer my opinion. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:58, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- This is great! Thanks. = paul2520 (talk) 15:00, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Apologie
Hello, Paul. I have made the grave mistake of putting you through the adminship process. I want you to know none of this is your fault. Everything is my fault and I want to say I am sincerely sorry for putting you through this. I just want you to know I in no way, shape, or form set you up to fail. I still think you are a good candidate for adminship but I think you may need a better nominator than me to nominate you for adminship. Mdriscoll03 (talk) 19:34, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- No need to apologize. I appreciate that you thought I merited a nomination, and I hope you have learned as much from this process as I have. It definitely encourages me to continue contributing, fighting vandalism, and making other helpful edits. = paul2520 (talk) 14:48, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Autopatrolled
Hi Paul2520, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Alex ShihTalk 23:41, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- As I mentioned in the RfA, I happened to browse through some of the content creations by this account as part of the review and the qualities were assuring. Keep up the good work! Alex ShihTalk 23:41, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Alex Shih. This will come to good use. I do have ideas about pages that need to be created. And thank you for your moral support comment. = paul2520 (talk) 14:48, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Your RfA
Hi. Your enthusiasm is most welcome, but RfA is a hard exam to pass - in fact the Founder, Jimbo Wales, once named it 'a horrible and broken process' . Before embarking on a quest for adminship it's absolutely essential to read all the advice pages, in particular WP:RFAADVICE, follow all the links, and rigorously read previous failed and successful RfAs. While I am absolutely sure that Mdriscoll03 nominated you in good faith, I am equally sure that as a very new user with little experience, they were also not aware of what it takes to be an admin. If one day you meet all the requirements, let me know. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:39, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for the comment, Kudpung. I now see what is typically expected/valued in an admin candidate. I have learned a lot these past couple of days! = paul2520 (talk) 14:48, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Hello Paul2520, I did not know how else to reach you regarding the Michael Lovell Page. I apologize in advance if this is not the correct place. I have added a note on the talk page, please review/respond at your convenience.
- Responded. This is acceptable; you can also use
{{reply to|<username>}}
when replying elsewhere, so I would get a notification. = paul2520 (talk) 13:41, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
