- Hi, could you please point me to the policy which constitutes my typo fix of "Shay's" to "Shays's" as unconstructive and potentially vandalism? I've looked over the vandalism policy and am not sure what I'm doing wrong since I'm trying to make the text follow all standard conventions [1]. Obviously I'm a new user, so I appreciate the patience!
- P.S. sorry for originally writing on your talk page. Hope this is right now. Pbericcc (talk) 15:46, 9 May 2014 (UTC)pbericcc
- The topic name uses "Shays'" because (per previous consensus) most sources use that spelling (whether a majority of authoritative sources uses a different spelling is a matter of conjecture. By the way, checking the sources for Shays' Rebellion, I noticed a couple which have been altered to "Shays's" contrary to the actual source. Changing something so that it doesn't correspond to the given reliable sources is not an improvement, and altering links unnecessarily in the manner which I reverted also is not an improvement. - Okay, thank you for the explanation. Sorry again for undoing your revert, didn't realize it was against Wiki etiquette. Pbericcc (talk) 00:09, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
- no problem - disputes are best addressed by starting a discussion on the relevant topic's talk page TEDickey (talk) 13:21, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
