Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Conceptual Video Art. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. freshacconci talktalk 20:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Darcy White

edit

You really need to stop inserting this name in various articles. His notability has not been established. And if you are the artist himself, please read WP:COI. freshacconci talktalk 00:06, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your interest, and perhaps at some point Darcy White will become notable. He seems to be on his way. I do need to point out, however, that none of these articles are yours or mine. WP:OWN covers this. If it's not me, it will probably be someone else. An important aspect of Wikipedia is notability. All articles, especially about living people, need to be verifiable. If you're adding a name to an article, it needs to be properly sourced. Don't forget, there are thousands of young video artists out there. Why would one over any other be mentioned? The only criteria we can go by is notability and verifiable sources. Thanks. freshacconci talktalk 00:25, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

On Freshacconci's talk page in connection with Darcy White you have said "I think he is wonderful and people should know about him". Firstly, a particular person's interest is not a criterion which is accepted by Wikipedia for inclusion. Secondly, Wikipedia's policy is that it does not try to publicise a subject which is not already well known ("people should know about him"), but only records information which already has significant coverage in published works. In the same talk page comment you have written "you may restrict Darcy from other pages if you like, but for my own I humbly request that he stay on, all other edits are fair game". As Freshacconci has indicated above there is no such thing in Wikipedia as your page: whoever creates a page it becomes the property of the Wikimedia foundation, and the original creator of the page has no more right to the page than any other Wikipedia user, and no right to instruct other editors in this way. Whatever your personal opinion of Darcy White may be he is not notable in Wikipedia's sense of the word: please stop inserting references to him. JamesBWatson (talk) 07:40, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
