On that note, I'd also like to emphasize that Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Try to learn from the edits others make, and don't just stick to what you think looks good, which might not be in-line with Wikipedia's Manual of Style or other policies and guidelines. Thanks. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:41, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
I was trying to guide you with some helpful edits and advice, but I'm not prepared to mentor a new editor who's uninterested in learning. You might find better luck at the Teahouse, linked above. But if you continue single-mindedly reverting changes you don't understand, there's little chance that your draft is going to be approved. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:45, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, Paul, for this message.
- Please accept my apologies for rejecting your original two edits at first, before fully understanding the reasons behind them and the Wikipedia rules to which they corresponded. I have restored those edits, with a few added minor changes. In the future, I will pay much more careful attention to your edits if there are any more and will try to learn from them. I appreciate the lessons here. While eliminating some voluminous discussion from here, I did save it for future reference.
- No problem. As for the Santikaro draft, eventually, it should be developed to the point that the biography content can be separated into its own section, with a WP:lead section summarizing the content. That would address any current paragraph breaking concerns. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:16, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your kind reply, Paul_012.
- A quick question about how to improve compliance of this article with the rules, only if you have the time and the ability to respond, of course:
- After looking over more carefully the rules on external links, it seems that this article would have a better chance of acceptance if all the external links to audio sources were turned into web citations. This is some work, so I was hoping to verify with you first if it's worthwhile to change them all into web citations remaining with zero external links in the article itself. Peaceful-D (talk) 15:46, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Well, with lists of works by an author (the relevant guideline is at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists of works), most Wikipedia articles only include major publications like books, papers, etc. Extensive lists of talks or lectures are usually considered too detailed for the purpose of Wikipedia, which is to provide an encyclopedia article about the subject rather than a detailed index of their works. It would be more in-line with Wikipedia practice to just link to the Soundcloud, Audio Dharma and Dharma Seed index pages as external links in a dedicated External links section. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:18, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Paul_012, thanks so much, I will try to follow this guideline over the next week or so. Peaceful-D (talk) 17:50, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Just dropping a note about Special:Email/Oversight for actually hiding edits like the previous. Primefac (talk) 20:53, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks very much, Primefac, I saw the message on your user page and understand what you mean. I do not need any special oversight action for this case, as it is no big deal that the IP is revealed, it changes every few hours anyhow, via DHCP from my ISP. It happened because I resonded to the message from another device and probably was not signed in from there so it used the IP instead of the username, just guessing.
