Hehe. Hi! It was hilarious the way you handled these "high school girls"! I'd give you the CHF dancing banana here if I could, but I'll give you a few comments on Zhang Zhongjing instead. I see you found the link to his name, but you might have missed the wiki on his book, which has been placed at Shang Han Lun. I just created redirects at Shanghan lun and Shanghanlun, which are both more standard than "Shang Han Lun" among historians of Chinese medicine ("Shanghan lun" is best). Too bad the SHL wiki sucks so much. Anyway, "shanghan" didn't mean "typhoid" or "typhoid fever" until the 20th century. Before that, it meant literally "to be injured by cold." I usually translate as "Cold injury," others prefer "Cold damage," and yet others like "Cold-factor disorders." Add Treatise on at the beginning and you have your book title. The book was about disorders (mostly characterized by fevers) that were attributed to external "Cold" (which is usually capitalized to make it clear we're talking about a technical concept and not just about cold air). Note that Zhang Zhongjing's book was originally titled Shanghan zabing lun 傷寒雜病論 ("Treatise on Cold injury and miscellaneous disorders"), and it got split into two only later. Finally: Shen nong ben cao jing (a bad, bad wiki); also redirects from "Shennong bencao jing", which should be the standard form. And Shennong bencao jing is the same book as Bencao jing. - Hahaha! Yeah, I remember those high school days all too well (when I wasn't too drunk to remember, of course, lol), so I understand the temper tantrums (i.e. "back off!", "my page!") and the incredible amount of useless filler sentences used for final papers. But seriously, kids these days, eh? Thanks for the Shang Han Lun link! Awesome. You know what? You have been just too helpful. Fortunately for me (and thanks to you), now I have a list of sources on medicine that I can scour to make an appropriate section in one of the articles. Sandbox7, here we come?
