- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at firstβit's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Your question at talk:Hijrah
editOn the face of it at least, your question seems valid but way outside of my knowledge (I only saw it because of my interest in dating systems, specifically the Hijri calendar). If you don't get a reasonable response in a few days, best you leave a message at talk:Muhammad inviting contributions (at talk:Hijrah). Best wishes. --πππ½ (talk) 15:12, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Then I had a better idea - I requested help from some of the regular contributors to the Muhammad article. --πππ½ (talk) 15:22, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your messages and help. Perseverance66 (talk) 00:46, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
In case it is not obvious, all editors on Wikipedia are equal. Those who have been here a while (over 100 edits, I think) may edit those few pages that have been protected due to perennial vandalism or disruption. So when you reach that point, you will be able to change such articles yourself. But for controversial topics, you will save yourself a lot of hassle by proposing first at the talk page for the article and proceeding when you have WP:consensus. NB that silence signifies assent so you don't have to wait forever; outside August, a week is enough. --πππ½ (talk) 10:40, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the encouragement and information. I agree that going through the talk page first is a good idea, as it can prevent edit wars. In addition, if it is agreeable to everyone, the edit may have more value than an edit made without consultation. Perseverance66 (talk) 06:06, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
