Syria and 242

Hi, I notice you have made some recent edits to the page on Resolution 242 regarding formal acceptance by Syria. This issue was debated in May 2007 and the agreed wording you altered has stood since then. I would be interested to know on what basis you altered the pre-existing wording as I think the agreed wording was more accurate and would like to revert back to it. thanks for your taking care of LTTE. That page was in need of a copy-edit. One question: why do you prefer "it" over "they" when speaking about this organization? The abbreviation expands to "Liberation TigerS of Tamil Eelam", so I think it should trigger plural agreement and anaphora, rather than singular. Jasy jatere (talk) 08:59, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Because it's an organization, and grammar dictates that every organization should be referred to as "it", regardless of its name. When you are talking about multiple things, such as the members of the organization, or several organizations, then you use the pronoun "they". -Pgan002 (talk) 19:07, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
