Talk pages

Hi. How's it going? Just wanted to bring your attention to these guidelines on talk pages. Basically, you shouldn't edit or delete other people's comments, even if they are now out-dated, they should be kept as a record of the discussion that took place. Even corrrecting splling or grammer mistaykes in others' comments is to be avoided - talk pages don't have to meet the same standards as articles. If a talk page gets too long, old discussions should be archived, not deleted. I've reverted some of your changes to Talk:PlayStation 3 system software to reflect this. Cheers. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 09:40, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Ahh ok. Thanks. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 09:43, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Newlands College

I've added comments on the article to Talk:Newlands College.

I see you have created Wikipedia:Peer review/Newlands College/archive1, but something has gone wrong with your nomination for peer review because the article is not listed at WP:PR. You might like to seek advice at WT:PR for how to rectify this. I have no recent experience of the peer review process so I can't suggest how to recover from this situation.-gadfium 08:54, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Aha! here it is! I've also just added new sources to the page. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 09:25, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

PS3 System Software

Noticed your recent inputs on v2.70 on the talk page. Can you please explain who the 'corrections' are directed to, as it is highly confusing and it could be seen as a personal attack if directed at someone on here in particluar. Thanks chocobogamer mine 21:21, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

It's an analysis which involves trying to isolate whether the system software is true or not. It is no doubt true, but it is done in a very impromptu way and holds some features which are "too good to be true". And Sony rarely fails to disappoint. I don't know anymore. I hate having to rewrite the information, because there are edits after the removal of mine, so I won't bother. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 06:49, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

PS home version 1.3 not working

Hi, did you download version 1.3 and getting stuck in the initializing window? Maybe that should be in the ps home article? Thanks. 97.124.247.107 (talk) 04:15, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes I did. Usually, it's not constructive to do that, because the moment I put it up, a different problem/resolution occurs, but I'll put something up. I still cannot access Home since 1.3. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 05:52, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:PS3&PS3slim.png

File:PS3&PS3slim.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:PS3&PS3slim.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:PS3&PS3slim.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 18:45, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

You probably can't reply to this, but does that mean I have to change the internal links directing to the picture, or can I just leave them? Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 21:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey

I was just going to let you know that I'll be off my PS3 for a little while due to my PS3 has gotten the YLoD. I don't know when I'll be back, but I'm probably just going to buy a slim instead of wasting $150 USD to send it to Sony only to have someone else's refurbished 60GB PS3 sent back to me that may only last a few months. I could be back as soon as Monday, that just depends on how soon I can get the slim. JDC808 (talk) 23:16, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Looks like I'm back sooner than expected lol. I just went ahead and went out and got the slim. It's not the same though :(. JDC808 (talk) 01:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
It's a real shame that you didn't get an extended warranty. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 21:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Images

Hi. You seem to be getting a bit worked up about the proposed deletion of the PSN images. I wouldn't take it personally. One person nominated them as in his/her opinion they were not needed. Discussions are being held on the IfD page and there seems to be more support for keeping them than for deleting them. In my opinion, the images don't fail on either of the criteria they were nominated on so I don't see how a consensus could be reached in support of deletion. Try to discuss it professionally and see it from the other people's point of view - threatening to leave Wikipedia isn't going to make them change their mind, presenting a convincing argument is. I've already posted my view on the IfD page and like I said, it seems pretty clear cut: They're simply not eligible for deletion under those criteria. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 11:21, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

It wasn't a threat, it was to prove a point. It's not blackmail, trust me Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 20:41, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
I know, I'm just saying that it's unlikey to change people's minds. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 07:30, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
I got rid of it. I just felt a bit sick and the issue wasn't helping. Feeling better now. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:35, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Good good. Glad you're feeling better. I could see from your edits around that time you were getting pretty frustrated with it! :) Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 07:44, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
It's just that, the NZ Spring is still Winter-like and it's being a pain really. It rains almost everyday and it interchanges being ok to being extremely cold. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 08:08, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
I didn't think it was ever cold in NZ! You're definition of "cold" is probably 15° or something, right?! Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 08:13, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
No, about 10°C ish. Well, in the mid-north island, we've been getting snow storms etc. It happened about the same time as the Samoa/Indonesia tragedy. Of course NZ gets cold, we're right above Antarctica, and 80% of the South Island is either the Southern Alps or the Western High Country. It's freezing cold down there. I don't think England has snow mountains (not cos it's not cold enough, but cos it's not a tectonic plate boundary, but that's getting into Geography lol. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 08:23, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
I always think of NZ as being right next to AUS but yeah, you are pretty close to Antarctica! Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 08:52, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Only the northern tip, along with Auckland has similar latitude to like South Australia. I live in Wellington. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 08:58, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Help with a decision on the PS Home page

Okay, Black Kite added a non-free overuse tag to the PlayStation Home page. I contacted him and asked for a justification. His justification was that there are 13 non-free images on the page, and he said that's more than all but 82 of all 3,000,000+ articles on Wikipedia. How he knew that, I don't know. He also said that most of them fail Wikipedia's non-free image policy and pointed out #3a and #8 on that page. He also made a note about referencing message posts, which we both know those are from Sony officials, which I told him that. Since apparently the page has too many images and most fail the non-free image policy, I was needing some help in what to do about this. JDC808 (talk) 19:52, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Ok, firstly, he's not able to know that information, secondly, he's probably right. I've fixed it up. It was easier to fix than the PlayStation Network article tags, where they've asked two images to be deleted. Anyway, I think the user will be satisfied now. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 08:44, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, cool, thanks. JDC808 (talk) 15:17, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Edit that. I just looked back at the page, he still isn't satisfied and says most are completely unnecessary. Maybe he should go look at the PlayStation 2 page if he wants to talk about most images being unnecessary, it has 15 images on its page which some aren't very neccessary. JDC808 (talk) 16:49, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Most of the ones on PlayStation 2 are free images, so they aren't a problem. Black Kite 22:02, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Okay, but you say most images on the page are unnecessary, why? (Maybe we should move this to the Talk:PlayStation Home page) Also, my reference to the PS2 page was rather or not the pictures were necessary since that's another problem that you have brought up with the PlayStation Home page. JDC808 (talk) 23:13, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
The Xbox 360 article is a better example. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:18, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
You're right, I just looked and it has 8 non-free imgaes on its page. JDC808 (talk) 13:28, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
---> Talk:PlayStation Home. Black Kite 05:37, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and "he's not able to know that information"? Actually he is..... I was slightly wrong though - it's 85, not 82 :) Black Kite 22:05, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Firstly, I didnt know that page was made, secondly, it's terribly outdated. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:17, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Outdated? It's updated every Saturday - look at the history. Black Kite 07:30, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Saturday is outdated XD lol. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:32, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey

Well, we're somewhat getting to the end of this image problem with Black Kite, but that's not what this is for. I'm thinking about doing a little clean up and what not to the Game Developer Spaces and Non-Gaming Company Spaces sections on the Home page. I've started a discussion here. JDC808 (talk) 01:59, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

I say go ahead with cleaning it up. The page has started to get a bit messy with loads of content. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:12, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Flags

Hi. In my edit summary reverting your edits on PlayStation 3 I referred to WP:FLAG instead of WP:MOSFLAG. Just thought I'd correct myself in case you were wondering what I was referring to. I've also commented on the Home Space list talk page. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 07:45, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks. I didn't realise that. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 07:50, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your help with this image.

I was originally going to post my problem on Yahoo answers but then literally in the last minute you put the image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chrisp_PS3_Slim_on_White_towel.JPG into the Public Domain. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by KAPITALIST88 (talkcontribs) 01:54, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

system software pages..

Ritey, after speaking to the help desk and reading in depth the pages regarding date and time. I think that having all software pages on UTC (UK) date coding, specifying in the column. It seems the most logical as UTC is what all time zones are based on, and what Wikipedia is based on. It will hopefully stop the edit wars. I have changed the PS3 SS page (took forever), I don't know if you'll be interested in helping me go through all the other pages and make them uniform, using the UK PS website for sources, but I'm fed up with petty changes because of a matter of hours and some fanboy American editors changing it back. I mean in all honesty it could be American dates, but as Wiki stamps comments with UTC and everywhere uses UTC as a basis its more explainable. chocobogamer mine 00:28, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, besides PS3, what else is there? I can't really help too much until the end of November, cos I have examinations until then. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 22:42, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Can you check an image on this page for me?

On the Kratos (God of War) page, I uploaded a newer image of Kratos from God of War III about a couple of weeks ago, maybe a little longer than that, and it is still showing the previous image on my screen. Can you see if it's doing the same for you, and if so, do you know why? JDC808 (talk) 16:50, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah it's doing that for me too. If you dont want that glitch to happen, I recommend reuploading the picture on a different name. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 12:38, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, will do. JDC808 (talk) 16:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
