Stalybridge

edit

A lot of material has been added recently to the Stalybridge article that, whislt good, is generally unreferenced. You should start adding references before it gets out of hand - if it already hasn't - and you can't remember where you got your information from. On a different note, I'm wondering if there may be too high a level of detail going in. For example, Dunham Massey is mentioned as is the second creation of the Earldom of Warrington when neither are strictly relevant. If you have information on these subjects put it in the relevant articles, there's no need to let it go to waste, because some editors may come read the article, wonder what the stuff is doing there, and remove it. Happy editing. Nev1 (talk) 21:41, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Stalybridge do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'users\.btopenworld\.com' (link(s): http://carrbrookvillage.users.btopenworld.com/bowling.htm) .

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Stalybridge. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Walkerwood.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 00:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've added licensing information for this image; next time you upload an image from geograph add == Licensing == {{cc-by-sa-2.0}}, that will take care of the copyright stuff. Nev1 (talk) 22:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stalybridge

edit

Hello there! And welcome to WP:GM.

It seems you're quite new to the project and just thought that I ought to point to the WP:UKCITIES standard regarding the standard layout and content for articles about settlements within the UK. Hope these help keep Stalybridge on track. -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:30, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry the lead photograph wasn't strictly accurate - it was a really nice photograph. Would this (a),this (b),this (c) or this (d) be a suitable replacement? I'd have to try and negotiate a licencing agreement with the photographer for use here mind, but I think it'd improve the article vastly. Let me know your thoughts as I'm very keen to see this article flourish. -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Stalybridge.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Astleycheetham.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Astleycheetham.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 13:59, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Files missing description details

edit
Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 09:47, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
