Welcome!

Hello, Phyllis+Redline, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Hugh Brody, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Hi - I am confused and concerned as to why the section on Hugh Brody's essays has been removed and why I have been deemed in conflict of interest. I am an independent journalist who has interviewed Mr Brody in the past and would like to update the list of essays on his page, which is out of date, ending in 2011. Please send me any notations which are of concern. I hold his work in high regard and would like to see it properly documented. I am not being paid to make these updates. What is my next step? Wikipedia is not for posting resumes, and listing a bunch of essays and articles falls under that heading. One can assume that books and movies and things like that can be verified by secondary sources and can be proven to be noteworthy; that does not work the same way for articles. Why I think you have a COI? I think that's obvious: it's because of your unverified additions to this resume-style article. COI doesn't necessarily mean you get paid for it, by the way. If you want to see the subject's work documented, then add documentation: secondary sources. That's not what you did here, for instance. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 04:06, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Drmies Thanks for the notes. If I understand. your note correctly the chief problem with my recent entries is the lack of proper references from secondary sources that should accompany eligible essays? This is likely due to my inexperience -- as a retired journalist-- with making, editing or deleting Wikipedia style references. What, for example, am I do do with a G1 notice from Google that crops up, or a persisting reference that is an orphan owing to the editing? I can certainly return to the tutorial and sandbox to practice making notations and I would be happy to present draft content to an editor on the User page, if that is useful. Meanwhile would the Essay entries that were on the site prior to my current additions be restored? Your assistance greatly appreciated.
