Monomeric boranes?

edit

Nice artwork. But is there any evidence to a role for monomeric hydroboranes? People draw mechanisms invoking R2BH monomers because doing so is convenient for ChemDraw. But BH3 monomer is nonexistent virtually. Even alpine borane and such are dimers. I dont have any great answers by the way.

In terms of our manual of style, ideal graphics have no language. We put the wording in the caption. In that way, art work is more transferrable to other languages. --Smokefoot (talk) 03:13, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Good point, I didn't think about this. I could include a solvent (e.g. THF) to produce a more appropriate hydroborating reagent. For convenience and for the sake of introducing the principle of the reaction, however, I'll leave BH3 as monomeric in the arrow-pushing mechanism.
Also, thanks for the heads-up for the graphics - I will quickly update the cartoons to include less English text -- Pillsmarch (talk) 04:40, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
