Copyright problem: Taksin
editHello. We welcome and appreciate your contributions to the article Taksin, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to include substantial material copied from http://www.wangdermpalace.com/kingtaksin/eng_multifarious.html, which makes it a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Taksin with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Taksin.
Please see Talk:Taksin for more detail.
Thank you. Please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia, but please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Barack Obama Congratulations
editWhile I'm absolutely sure that the entire U.S. as well as President-Elect Obama is very grateful for the King of Thailand's congratulations, and those congratulations might very well belong in an article dedicated to such international accolades, there is going to be a problem with putting the congratulations into the main Barack Obama article - there simply won't be enough room for everyone's to be put in the main Barack Obama article (and Wikipedia has to treat every nation equally). I'm sure Wikipedia does want the congratulations in here - the only question is where should they be recorded so that they can be found in perpetuity. Simesa (talk) 11:23, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I started an article International congratulations offered to Barack Obama upon his inauguration and posted a note on the Discussion page of Barack Obama that I had done so and would appreciate advice - but I see now that the article has vanished, with no note placed on my own Talk page nor any listing in today's articles for deletion.
- I used a technique to see what had happened to it, and found that a Wikipedia administrator named user:Stifle had deleted it with the terse comment "Let's not". Sorry, I tried to get your text in, and was going to link it into Barack Obama 2009 presidential inauguration, but administrators carry more power than I (although less than bureaucrat-level Wikipedians). Simesa (talk) 16:24, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
The article's protection will expire at noon, when Obama becomes President for reals. —harej // change the rules 16:39, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Proposal for new Manual of Style for Thailand-related articles
editA drafted new version of the Manual of Style for Thailand-related articles has been started here. Still at issue are specific naming conventions for Thai royals and nobles and settlements. As a member of WikiProject Thailand, you are welcome to contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Thailand#Updating the Manual of Style (part 2). FAC withdrawn
editI appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the George Washington article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. You might consider first working the article up through peer review and good article candidacy to prepare for its nomination. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:27, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:15, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
