Hello Cabrils,
Happy New Year. While my draft was rejected please look at 2024 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship edition which started yesterday (https://www.chess.com/tournament/2024-chess-com-daily-chess-championship). This year, a new record was broken with 63.352 players. It is the largest chess tournament ever both online and over-the-board (https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/largest-board-game-tournament). Please note that chess.com is fully reliable tournament organizer (all TOP chess players play there) with 150 million users (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess.com).
It seems to me that the world's largest tournament, in a game with such traditions as chess, should have its place on Wikipedia. Considering that in the Guinness Book there is a category called 'The largest online chess tournament', it is only a matter of time before the organizers report this record.
Regarding references, of course the vast majority must come from chess.com, because in previous years both Chess24 and Play Magnus was purchased by Chess.com. So you can say that we now have a bit of a monopoly on online chess:).
Please reconsider your decision to decline and possibly let me know how I can publish this regular chess event on Wikipedia. Please keep in mind that I have plans to add more great chess events. However, it is difficult to start if this type of tournament is rejected.
Thank you and best regards. PlayChessBetter (talk) 09:29, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
