About your article

edit

Hi. Since the talk page is going to be deleted by me in a moment, I thought I would move our conversation here. Like I stated before, Wikipedia has strong policies prohibiting spam and advertisements of any kind. Additionally, we have policies regarding notability in regards to persons, places, companies, etc. Familiarize yourself with those polices before you create another article. In fact, you may find that the company you are wishing to write an article about does not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria, in which case you may be out of luck. Lastly, I can't help but notice your username. If you are representing the company in which you are writing an article for, that is also prohibited by policy. Let me know if you have any questions, Tiptoety talk 05:16, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I didn't think it was spammy or unbias... i'll read all the material you have given me. The username was just one of our standard ones since qualityplayingcards is sometimes too long of a username when we make an account somewhere. We just wanted to be on the list of manufacturer's since we have been a playing card manufacturer since 1999. Like i said, because, i really didnt think it was going to be considered spam and I appologize. Being new and going through all the Terms of Use can get a bit overwhelming. We can put in the time and should qualify. We just saw a page that listed manufacturers and it appeared that we needed to have a page categorized to get on it. Please read TipToety's second-to-last sentence again. You can't add your own company.. 207.81.171.224 (talk) 05:26, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I understand. The simple fact that you, the company is writing an article about yourself indicates to me and other editors that it is an advertisement. I assume you can understand the reasoning behind that assessment. Additionally, here at Wikipedia we do not allow role accounts, so to ensure that this account is not blocked you need to dedicate only one person to using it, not a whole company. And while I know all the policies can be overwhelming for new users, I am going to throw another one out there. Specifically our username policy, which states (among other things): "Users who adopt such a username and engage in inappropriately promotional behaviors in articles about the company, group, or product, are usually blocked." As such, I suggest that you change your username. I can either direct you to the page where you can request that, or you can just tell me what new username you would like to use and I can have someone carry out the rename for you. I respect the rules. The harder it is to qualify the higher the quality of resources provided. Our goal wasn't necessarily promotion, but to be a notable company within that industry that only states the facts in a none advertising way. Should I just start over fresh with a new username? If so, I'll just copy the materials you have provided me and go through those links and create an account once we have everything laid out appropriately. (and hopefully meeting your Wikipedia's terms)Playingcards1 (talk) 05:35, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

That is one option, but the more preferred one for attribution purposes would be to just have your account renamed. Is there a neutral username you are interested in using? One that does not have your companies name in it? Tiptoety talk 05:37, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Done - Alright. So now that your username is no longer an issue, do what you said above. Take the time to read over some of the following polcies

You are welcome. If there is one thing to remember, it is that Wikipedia does not allow self promotion.
