edit Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Kitasato Shibasaburo, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - Hi! I saw your message. First of all, please accept my apology. I'm really sorry that I took your edit as vandalism. Kitasato's birth year is 1853. See these pages, [1] [2] [3] [4] They all say it's 1853. (Even if you don't read Japanese, you can find the date) I didn't see the category when I reverted your edit. But it's obvious that the category is a mistake, you see. Now I'm going to fix it. Again so sorry my mistake. Best regards. Oda Mari (talk) 05:12, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Flags
editHi Plindenbaum. You eddited a lot of biographies lately and in some you added the flag. There was a consensus sometime ago, that a flag should only be used if it is necesarry like for military personel. We had some stupid nationalist extremist starting editwars about scientists like Copernicus or Prelog and the flag was sometimes a condensation point for stupid people. If it is OK for you, it would be good to leave the flag out of the biograpy table if possible?--Stone (talk) 18:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- No problem! It would be no problem with 99% of all biographies, but the 1% kills all th fun! Thanks for your work! Nice to have everything updated!--Stone (talk) 05:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
URLs to PubMed
editOn James Herrick (and probably elsewhere) you linked to abstracts on Pubmed by placing the URL in the citation. This is usually unnecessary. Simply replacing {{citation}} with {{cite journal}}, and using the "pmid=" parameter in the latter template, will automatically generate a link to Pubmed. Even quicker, David Iberri's template filler will automatically generate a {{cite journal}} template on entering the PMID! JFW | T@lk 16:33, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Robert Metzenberg (geneticist) bio
editHi Plindenbaum. I haven't been active on Wikipedia for many months. Today (July 15th, 2008) is the first anniversary of my father's passing (Robert Metzenberg). I happened to search for his memorial page, written by some of his scientific colleagues, and I came upon the wikipedia page you started a few weeks ago. I was very touched that you had started a biography page. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to be involved in writing, but I am happy to answer questions about him and his research, although my brother would a better source. Obviously, I am just too close to the subject. If you see a picture you like on his memorial page, I could scan one for the public domain. Eric Selker's article in Genetics was wonderful. My father never had much interest in being famous. I'll say a few more words in the Talk section there. Metzenberg (talk) 03:15, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Copyright problem: Clarence Crafoord
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Clarence Crafoord, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://lib.bioinfo.pl/auth:Kvitting,JPE, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), versions 1.3 or later then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Clarence Crafoord and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Clarence Crafoord with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Clarence Crafoord.
It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Clarence Crafoord saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Somno (talk) 02:53, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Copyright problems with Clarence Crafoord/Temp
editHello. Concerning your contribution, Clarence Crafoord/Temp, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://ats.ctsnetjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/87/1/342. As a copyright violation, Clarence Crafoord/Temp appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Clarence Crafoord/Temp has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Clarence Crafoord/Temp and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Clarence Crafoord/Temp with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Clarence Crafoord/Temp.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Userafw (talk) 08:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Why ? Can you explain please, I don't see the interest. --Plindenbaum (talk) 08:46, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Plindenbaum. The temp copy was deleted because it too was a copyright infringement. As discussed on the article talk page, Wikipedia's aim is to provide free content, and text copied from another source (except public domain and licences compatible with GFDL) is not free content. Speedy deletion of Bronisław Hager
editA tag has been placed on Bronisław Hager requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Protein interactions

I think the work you and/or the bot is doing is great, but I have one small request which I have added to the talk page here. Yeast2Hybrid
editHi... this bot you set up is much less than perfect. For example, on the LNGFR (p75) page, first the interactions were duplicated, and second the entire point of the LNGFR is to bind the various neurotrophic factors (NGF, BDNF, NT-3, NT-4), and yet you on:hly list NGF and none of the other neurotrophins as binding the LNGFR... which is quite confusing to non-experts. Also in other cases the interactions are incomplete, to say the least. Gacggt (talk) 02:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. Hoooopps, sorry for this bug. I've updated the references by searching the content after ==Interaction==, but meanwhile, the header has been changed from ==Interaction== to ==_Interaction_==. I used the 'biogrid' to find the interactions http://www.thebiogrid.org/SearchResults/summary/110870 but I only used the interactions having two or more references to avoid the false positives. --Plindenbaum (talk) 07:54, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Correction of serious misinformation in James Braid article
editHi, I have requested that the title for the article on James Braid be changed from the inappropriate, misleading, and historically incorrect current title of James Braid (physician) to the appropriate and historically correct title of James Braid (surgeon).
On the basis that you have contributed to the current article in some way, I thought that you should know that the article will be moving within 7 days from James Braid (physician) to the appropriate and correct title of James Braid (surgeon) unless there is widespread, informed, and fact-based objections.
It would be helpful if you could express your support for the correction of what seems to have been, originally, an inadvertent error, at site of the discussion of proposal. Thanks, in anticipation . . . Lindsay658 (talk) 09:36, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Plindenbaum! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of BISC (database), and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://into.kobic.re.kr/pubmed/view/id/26201.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Speedy deletion nomination of Structure atlas of human genome
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Structure atlas of human genome requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ~~EBE123~~ talkContribs 20:48, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted
editI invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.
This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.
We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!
I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.
Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.
Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 01:53, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:SWL/mutations associated to
editA tag has been placed on Category:SWL/mutations associated to requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
