Names of the game

edit

Hi Pmmollet! Regarding your edit with the names, we don't have any clue (at least, I don't) as to what kind of name is "Land of Valencia" translating. I don't know who was the first who thought that it is attempting to translate País Valencià, it might be Joanot or any other. I am not saying that whoever thought like that had any bad intention: he or she may for sure have inferred this in good will, but we just don't know. What we do know is that the main promoter of this ill usage seems to have been the Conselleria de Turisme. I'm sure you agree with me that the PP Conselleria is not likely to be willing to support the País Valencià naming. Then, another touristic company like lonely planet, just followed what they were offered (journalists are quite lazy, you know? ;)

Anyway, I will be removing that "another rendering of País Valencià" part (and provide the citations needed) unless you have data that prove it. Before I edit, let me know if you had some English native source proving that "LoV" is a rendering of País Valencià. I honestly don't know any other than some Catalanist users over here.

ps. I am not willing to reopen the LoV debate here, but you may be interested, just out of curiosity, in checking what seems to be the main usage of "Land" nowadays in modern English when it comes to this geographical usage, check bantustan, there you find Ovamboland, Kavangoland...I hope el País Valencià is not one more of those "tribal reserves" but that is what Land of Valencia seems to suggest...

Gràcies! Mountolive | Talk 15:56, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's what I needed to know (why people here in wikipedia uses Land of as a translation of País Valencià).
The problem, you may agree with me, is that we can likely expect from a lonely planet reporter to look into his sources in...well, the Valencian official tourism site or wikipedia, so we don't know what comes first, l'ou o la gallina...I am going to make an edit retaining some of your suggestions and you let me know how you find it, ok? Thanks. Mountolive | Talk 17:31, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have edited already. I think that is a quite NPOV version now. Let me know what you think. Mountolive | Talk 17:48, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Pmmollet. I just removed the reference you brought to "Catalan Countries". Don't get me wrong: it was good, but I just thought that, under the new redaction after my edit, was out of place. So, no offense meant at all. Mountolive | Talk 18:15, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:2e_ad.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:2e_ad.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:47, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pàgina d'usuari

edit

--the Dúnadan 00:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Surveys at Talk:Valencian Community

edit

Hi! I'm addressing you because you had participated in some way at Valencian Community article. I've started several surveys regarding to naming conventions about the Catalan language, the Spanish language, and about the name of the country of Valencia. I think there's no a real consensus about that and (also because of it) it may help to stop endless polemic disputes. --Joanot Martorell 17:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
