Ustka

Don´t you think that it´s quiet impossible to know anything about a lighthouse of the 9th (!) century at Ustka today. And don´t you think that it´s quiet obvious a simple mistake because a lighthouse with an observatory was built in the 19th century. Even if your source writes something about 9th century we should try to think on our own first. A lighthouse of the year 850 at the Baltic sea would be really outrageous and definitely mentioned in more than only one book.(Pommerland (talk) 16:05, 11 May 2008 (UTC))
- I guess it all depends on how much you know about Ustka. Have you lived there by any chance? A local museum would have the answers for sure. As for me, I dug out available online references that's all. For example, this webpage says that there was a harbour there in the 13th century. A harbour would justify some kind of navigation system don't you think? I don't have a clue what else to suggest. --Poeticbent talk 16:40, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Ustka - lighthouse
editSapere aude - THINK. The town was ceded "with the purpose to built a harbour" in 14th century but a lighthouse existed 400 (!) years before. It´s impossible.(Pommerland (talk) 12:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC))
- Yesterday night I browsed the Polish internet for some kind of confirmation of what was what in early history of Ustka. I didn’t find any mention of an ancient lighthouse even though there was a stronghold with a church and a steeple at Słupsk (Stolp) already in the 9th Century. I’m sure some kind of navigation was in place for the cargo ships, but let’s delete that part for the sake of argument, because no additional reference can be found. --Poeticbent talk 13:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Guten Morgen
Skäpperöd (talk) 13:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
