Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Elevator music, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Muzak. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Source for General MIDI sound descriptions?

edit

Last year you added a number of descriptions and clarifications to the list of General MIDI program change messages. What are your sources for these? They seem like important information - for instance, I've long wondered what the heck "Goblins" was supposed to be - but having such descriptions at all seems to contradict what it says in sources like the General MIDI spec itself, which say that only the names are specified and it's up to synthesizer manufacturers to decide what they mean. Is there published information surveying how major manufacturers have interpreted the names in practice? Saying for instance that program change 3 "Electric grand piano" is "usually modeled after Yamaha CP-70" sounds like it might come from such a survey. 2607:FEA8:1280:5D00:0:0:0:663D (talk) 16:10, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello
Regarding General MIDI sound description, back when I was editing the descriptions in late 2023, I used to come across a Japanese article about General MIDI sounds. Unfortunately I forgot to cite the article as a source and now I lost track of the link. For now, you can revert my edits and I will try to find that link if I got more time.
Best regards.
