Hello, Privacy1548, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Major revisions needed.

  • This is a good start with good sources!
  • Currently, the primary issue is that the draft has not quite reached the 500 words of new prose minimum.
  • Ensure that all factual claims are cited.
  • General editing and spelling corrections, i.e. “aname,” “scotts,” “dunnay,” etc.
  • Ensure that your citations are not to proxy links (if “proxy.library.carleton.ca” shows up in the URL, it’s a proxy link!)

Notes

edit

Hi! I have some notes for you:

  • This needs in-line citations to show what is backing up which claim. Unsourced material can be challenged and removed from the article.
  • I'm not sure where these snippets will go in the article. Be aware that these need to be merged into the article and can't be prefaced with things such as "why she does X" or "how she got into x" type of headers or questions and answer formats. It may be a good idea to copy the sections you plan on merging these into and place it in your sandbox, so you can work on drafting the work that way, so you can get an idea of how they will look in the article.
  • Make sure that anything that could be seen as an opinion or subjective statement is attributed to the person making it. So for example the statement "Encouraging women to support other women in the film industry is important to scott." should be attributed along the lines of this:
For her 1990 film The Company of Strangers Scott chose to work with female assistants, associate producers, writers, and artists, as she felt that it was important to encourage women to support each other in the film industry.
This is still a little clunky but it attributes the claim to Scott while also making it clearer as to where this came from. You also want to make sure that the grammar is clear and that everything is properly punctuated.

I hope that this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:41, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
