African Women biographies

Hello ! You are in the top 10 of participants to the African Women section of the The Africa Destubathon. Whilst you did not make it to the top 3, I would like to thank you for the numerous improvements to African Women biographies and thus for reducing the gap. Anthere

It's a pleasure - thanks for noticing! — Proscribe
Hi there, Anthere. Just saw that the new article on Molara Wood seems to have been left off the women leaderboard list. Proscribe (talk) 13:07, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Mohammed Mohiedin Anis

On 20 April 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mohammed Mohiedin Anis, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Abu Omar returned home after the Battle of Aleppo to find that only 13 of his 30 vintage cars remained? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mohammed Mohiedin Anis. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mohammed Mohiedin Anis), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 (talk) 04:16, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Proscribe, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 01:37, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Many thanks! Does it work retrospectively i.e. for articles created before today that remain unassessed and noindexed? Proscribe (talk) 15:59, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)Hi! It is not retrospective but I have been meaning to go in and check off the ones I have expertise necessary to review, so that should help you get through the queue soon! Thanks for all your great work. Innisfree987 (talk) 04:22, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject Women in Red/The World Contest

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:50, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

TheFamousPeople.com as a source

Hi Proscribe. I've been looking over the use of thefamouspeople.com as a source or link in Wikipedia. There have been concerns of it being spammed, and doesn't appear to be a reliable source per Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2017_May_29#The_Famous_People:_Reliable.3F. I noticed that you've added it, and wanted to let you know why I removed it. If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 03:28, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks - have replaced it with other sources. Proscribe (talk) 10:02, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

Why not join Women in Red?

Thank you for creating articles on women and their works over the past few weeks as a participant in our World Contest. We have become aware of your contributions thanks to research undertaken by Bobo.03 at the University of Minnesota.
If you would like to receive news of future WiR events and participate in our discussions, you might now be interested in becoming a member of Women in Red where we are actively trying to reduce Wikipedia's content gender gap.
In any case, thank you for actively contributing to the coverage of women (currently 17.25% of English Wikipedia's biographies).

Ways to improve List of Zimbabwean women writers

Hi, I'm Ongmianli. Proscribe, thanks for creating List of Zimbabwean women writers!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hey, thanks for making this page! What you want to do, though, is to turn this list into a category. Check out Help:Category on help to turn this list into a Category. Nice attempt!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Invitation to participate in study

Hello,

I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Buzz Johnson

I greatly appreciate your biographic work here in an under-covered area that badly needs it. I do have some comments that might improve some of the articles. Unless a person is world-famous, inclusion of minor material usually makes an article weaker, not stronger. The basic policy for this is WP:NOT MEMORIAL. I therefore removed some material from this article, to make it less like a memorial: WP does not usually reprint personal tributes from people who know the individual unless published in significant reliable sources, nor do we draw conclusions about a person's influences. For a person notable as Johnson, the facts speak adequately for themselves. (and we do not include a list of books or authors published by a publishe, except for particularly famous books).

You might want to look to see if you can similarly strengthen other biographies. DGG ( talk ) 16:34, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments, DGG - will do my best! Proscribe (talk) 09:02, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
