- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.

Hello, Psmithpr. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Adam Korson, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Adam Korson, you may be blocked from editing. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Psmithpr", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Your username may reasonably lead other editors to believe that your intent is not to contribute to this project, but rather to commit public relations or "PR" in Wikipedia, presumably on behalf of yourself or your clients: something which is against our principles. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
He is our client. A new username has been requested— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs) — Psmithpr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- "our client"? Who is the plural "us" for whom he is "our client"? Does this account belong to a company of some kind? --Orange Mike | Talk 20:39, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
No marketing or promoting being done here. Not a company— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs)
- Then what did you mean by "our client"? --Orange Mike | Talk 21:20, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Why did you delete the article? There was no promoting being done, simply creating an article for a celebrity. A dispute was made.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs)
- You have not answered my question. What do you mean by "our client"? --Orange Mike | Talk 00:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- As to your question: language like "is also known as the quintessential Charming Funny Guy" "As a child, he made a decision to devote his life to acting", "wasted no time leaping onto the scene of acting where he offered up his acting skills", and the glurge-laden "left Adam to deal with a recovery period that took him away from the passion that fuelled his life, acting. This life-altering experience ultimately supplied him with the strength and knowledge that he could tackle anything" have no place in an encyclopedia article. It is theoretically possible that an impartial article could be written about this actor; but that one wasn't it. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:14, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
I have to disagree. Have you not viewed other celebrities Wiki articles? All include a biography about the actor, and that "language" was simply a biography referring to describing the actor. It wasn't copied material, so there is no valid excuse as to why you deleted it and I'm supposed to ask for your explanation before I speak with them tomorrow.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs) — Psmithpr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- Just because there is inappropriate language and tone in some articles, does not mean that we do not try to get rid of it; see WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS. This kind of thing passes from mere bad writing to actual promotion. --Orange Mike | Talk 12:38, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- "before I speak with them tomorrow"???? You STILL have not answered my question. What do you mean by "our client"? --Orange Mike | Talk 12:38, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Then can you help to make it more acceptable and to meet the standards that are required. New to this whole Wikipedia and didn't think it was this complicating.
Can you check the new revision and let me know what you think? Also, how do I change my username?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs) — Psmithpr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- I suspect that it may not be worth bothering. You have repeatedly failed to answer a simple, and relevant, question from an admin. Your account may soon be blocked from editing. Maproom (talk) 18:35, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
I am an assistant to answer the "client" question— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs) — Psmithpr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- An assistant to whom? A client of whom? --Orange Mike | Talk 19:29, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
To a publicist, which technically makes him (Adam) the client. All I asked was for help in making the article "Wiki appropriate" as the thousands of other actors and actresses have and I'm sure they didn't encounter this amount of trouble. There was no promoting being done of a product or business or of a person, just telling about an actor like the hundreds of other actors Wiki article's I have looked at.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Psmithpr (talk • contribs) — Psmithpr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- So, you were either lying through your teeth when you typed, "No marketing or promoting being done here", or you have a different understanding of the meaning of words like "marketing" and "promoting" than the definition we use here, which is intended to keep publicists and other professional promoters from turning Wikipedia into a steaming heap of press releases and biased, fawning "interviews". --Orange Mike | Talk 21:03, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Then what would you say other actors/celebrity articles are? I have gone over and over again what I could have possibly done wrong and I did NOT intentionally try to promote whatsoever. I have seen my share of Press Releases and this was not that in anyway, simply just trying to get create an article for Adam because I noticed he didn't have one and I constantly and researching using Wikipedia.
Marketing this is the definition I was going by and I made no mention of a product or our company. Promoting and here again absolutely no intention.
Comments
editUser:OrangeMike asked me to comment here, as I have a public relations background and often interject with a "softer touch" in Mike's anti-promotion activities.
When a marketing editor is asked to disclose their COI in an incriminating fashion, this has the opposite-than-intended effect, because it's embarrassing and gives the impression that the editor will be harassed and ridiculed if they disclose their affiliation with the article-subject.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of articles about people and about companies that are written by the article-subject and are promotional by Wikipedia's standards and each one that we let slip through the cracks sets a bad example for others. This creates an impossible burden against editors like OrangeMike to fight against it and it's a frustrating endeavor, which leads to a justifiably frustrated tone from Orange.
As the article has already been deleted, I can't comment on the article itself. However, I can drop a link to a guide and drop a template below with some straightforward advice and instructions. CorporateM (Talk) 21:48, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi, yes thank you for commenting, I felt more as though it was an interrogation and didn't appreciate it as I obviously am not familiar with Wikipedia and went off what I have seen in other celebrities articles, I felt as though I was being "picked on" My problem with the article being deleted is just that, now no one can see what exactly I am talking about and then I tried creating a brand new page and of course that was deleted as well. So, if you can sense my frustration in this entire process it is extremely frustrating.
- Orange, is it possible for me to get a copy of the original article? You can just email it to me if you like. CorporateM (Talk) 17:28, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- I also created a brand new article from scratch, but that doesn't appear to be available either.
- I believe once it is deleted, only admins can view it. Wikipedia doesn't want advertising anywhere, even in Talk pages or archives, so our preference is to wipe it from the record completely. The same thing goes for attack pages and other issues. CorporateM (Talk) 17:46, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- I see that, well at least if it is still visible to you administrators then at least I can have a second opinion on the articles, considering he didn't hesitate to delete the second one in a matter of minutes before anyone could've even have had their opinion heard.
- I didn't even get that option to request for anything because Orange Mike didn't give me the chance to do so.
- In general the community is not going to want to have extensive debates with a PR rep any more than the New York Times would want to if you were pitching a story they didn't want. OTOH, a submission to Articles for Creation would have more of the effect you were looking for, where feedback will be provided until/if the article is acceptable.
- First thing, we have many PR contributors that mean well, but are employed by someone that does not meet Wikipedia's requirements for an article. And many of them get strung along in such a way that wastes many hours of everybody's time. If he doesn't meet the requirement, it is not a good use of your time to participate here on his behalf, because nothing will be accomplished. In order to qualify, we need multiple press stories from credible, established news sources where is not just mentioned, but the subject of the entire article.
- Orange emailed the original article. I have annotated it in a sense to emphasize the areas Wikipedia would think is promotional or editorialized below. I do not believe this was a bad-faith effort to spam. This is just how marketing professionals are taught to write and it's difficult for us to get use to Wikipedia's style, which is very counter-intuitive to anyone with a marketing background.

Adam Korson is an actor, but is also known as the quintessential Charming Funny Guy. He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. As a child, he made a decision to devote his life to acting. Adam graduated top of his class from Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, and wasted no time leaping onto the scene of acting where he offered up his acting skills to indie films and theatre. In his early years Korson starred as the Chairman in the Mystery of Edwin Drood, Dan in Patrick Marber's Closer and Jean Paul Marat in an adaptation of the play Marat/Sade; among many other plays and independent films.[1] A serious eye injury during a hockey game, a true Canadian, left Adam to deal with a recovery period that took him away from the passion that fuelled his life, acting. This life-altering experience ultimately supplied him with the strength and knowledge that he could tackle anything. Over the years, Korson has had the unique opportunity to play a range of characters from the complex to the downright ridiculous. His film and television credits include roles on the pilot of CBS's smash hit 2 Broke Girls, Michael Sardo's pilot Normal for Lifetime, CW's Emily Owens, MD, Lifetime's The Protector, Breakfast with Scot, ABC Family's Nature of the Beast, and The Contract. Adam is currently starring as the lead role of Harry in Citytv's hit sitcom, Seed. His theatrical credits include Dan Woolf in Patrick Marber's Closer, Jean Paul Marat in Marat/Sade An Adaptation, The Chairman in the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Isaac Adams in The God of Isaac, and Adam Lipshitz, in the smash hit Jewtopia. [2] Adam stars in the new television series Seed from City TV. Adam takes on the lead role of the character Harry, an underachiever sperm donor/bartender who attempts to create a one-of-a-kind, multi-layer families after he discovers that his sperm bank participation as a young man have resulted in a number of kids. Korson became a familiar face to the television audience when he was a series regular on the Lifetime program Normal. He was also co-star on the American sitcom 2 Broke Girls, a show about two financially challenged roommates in Brooklyn, New York, and The Protector, a lifetime television drama series about a single mother and her struggle to balance her personal life with her profession as a LAPD homicide detective. Korson also guest-starred in television shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Glades. Aside from the television world, Adam has scored lead roles in films such as The Contract and Blind Eyes and supporting roles in Nature of the Beast and Breakfast With Scot. Among other films and plays significant roles in theatrical numbers like The God of Isaac and Jewtopia has assisted Korson in advancing his career as an eclectic entertainer in the performing arts industry. Adam loves working with nonprofit organizations that gets kids outside and familiar with nature and those dealing with anti-bullying issues. MediaeditAdam was just named one of Canada's 50 Most Beautiful People by Hello! Magazine in May of 2013. |
Thank you for taking the time to do that. It put it more into perspective, rather than just interrogate me practically and accuse me of something I didn't intend. Did he happen to send oyu the second article which didn't include any of the text you annotated, I basically started from scratch to sound more neutral.
- Wikipedia should not be required to provide this degree of customer service any more than the New York Times should have to provide extensive training on the best way to pitch them, but unfortunately it's the only way out of the little problem we have on Wikipedia. In my opinion, when a PR contributor is shunned, they return under new accounts and the anti-promotion task force increases their own work-load unintentionally.
- Anyways, the next step is not to determine who was right or wrong or what draft was ok or whatnot. It's to assess whether the subject meets Wikipedia's requirements for an article to exist (see my comments on this above). OrangeMike and I are both uncertain if he meets the requirements, but could be persuaded if you can dig up the kind of profile stories I outlined.
- If he doesn't meet the requirements, nothing can be done. If this is the case, you quite simply want to have an article on a subject that Wikipedia does not want to cover. There's nothing I can do to help in that case, except save you some grief and moderate a better understanding for the future. ;-) CorporateM (Talk) 23:55, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, so where do I send the stories to in which you outlined? Such as the magazine article, and the nonprofit organization proof? The proof of him being on those television shows are straight from your Wikipedia articles for those specific television shows.
- The show itself is a primary source. We need secondary sources where he (not the show) is the subject of a substantial body of work. CorporateM (Talk) 17:34, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ok and then where do I send this?
- Right here would be fine if it's available online. If it's a PDF you can email it to me. CorporateM (Talk) 17:52, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Alright, I will collect that and get it to you ASAP.
I have collected a list of websites that hopefully both of you will find helpful in persuading to accept which ever article either of you feel is more Wikipedia appropriate. Again, thank you for your time and for even reviewing this for me, I never meant to cause this amount of grief to anyone, just trying to add onto the Wikipedia organization. - I don't think he meets our criteria yet. Most of these are brief mentions or interviews and do not show a substantial and critical investigation into his acting career from an authoritative source. Sorry bud, nothing I can do to help. User:OrangeMike may express a different opinion and you are entitled to seek alternative opinions from others, but I think most editors will say the same.
