Also, you style is unpleasant: calling a minhag of Jews a "misinterpretation" is something not even the greatest scholars allow themselves (I could give you an interesting example from Kashrut laws). The only possibility to this non-sourced misinterpretation is... there is a teaching from the Mequbalim [mystics/kabbalists], that [learned] men should only study Torah sh'B'al Peh [Oral Torah] in the night [until midnight approx. 11:40pm winter - 12:40am summer], only after that may they begin reading Tanakh [Bible verses].
