Hello, I'm Joseph2302. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Qhubeka have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:53, 17 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or self-promoting in violation of the conflict of interest and notability guidelines.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Alexf(talk) 14:13, 17 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi. I work for the Qhubeka Charity. We recently noticed that the "Qhubeka" Wikipedia page is outdated and I created an account to update the page with our new language and edited the page yesterday. Now I have been blocked. The reason that I changed the existing data was that it was not correct and not for advertising purposes. How do one go about in a) unblocking the account and b) updating the data on the page to be factually correct. Also, is it possible to for the time being at least make the page appear as it was without the redacting message?

Decline reason:

Please read about conflict of interest and paid editing, two policies you must comply with(the latter is a Wikipedia Terms of Use requirement). Your edits were highly promotional(mostly talking about "our programs") and if you don't see how it was, that is concerning. Now that you know you won't be allowed to edit about your company, what will you edit about instead that is outside of your conflict of interest? You will need to agree to not edit about anything related to your conflict of interest(including your company). You will also need to propose a new username, one that complies with the username policy and indicates an individual is using this account; business names are not permitted as account names. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:09, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

To propose a new username and request unblock, please use the following: {{Unblock-un|user=new username|reason=your reason here}} Copy it when viewing this page, then open the edit window and paste it at the bottom. 331dot (talk) 08:09, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Dot. I do realize now that it appears that way. The intention was not to promote our charity, but only to update the information on the page. Your advice on how we should proceed with updating the language, logos and information will be greatly appreciated as we are not certain on how to proceed in this.

Please understand that as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources state about article subjects; Wikipedia has no interest in what the subject wants to say about itself. That's something you should do on your own website. If there is incorrect information in the article about your organization, we want to know what it is, but you won't be permitted to use the article about your organization to tell the world about it. If you want to be an individual general Wikipedia contributor, you might be allowed to make formal edit requests on the article talk page, but you won't be permitted to edit the article itself. If you are willing to do these things, please comply with the policies I have indicated, agree to not directly edit about your organization or anything within your conflict of interest, and tell what subjects you will edit about instead, along with proposing a new username. 331dot (talk) 09:19, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
