Watchlists and edit summaries

edit

A tip for you. You can watchlist pages you edit which makes it easy to follow when other editors are making changes to that page. To add a page to your watchlist, click the star at the top right of any page. It will turn blue when it's been added. To see your watchlist, click My Watchlist on the top right of the screen. It looks a bit confusing but it's just a summary of every edit to a page you're following. Here's an example, actually of your edit to the NDAA 2012 page.

  • 17:26 (cur | prev) . . (+2,089)‎ . . Quirin42 (talk | contribs) (→‎Requirement for military custody: Section 1022: new section)

To break that time, here's what each part does.

  • The time of the edit (comparison to the current page|comparison to the previous page)... Editor who made the change (their talk page|their contributions) (The section they edited and their edit summary)

When you make an edit, please leave an [edit summary] in the text field between the edit box and the save button. It should just be a short description of what you did like, "Introduced myself, COI declaration". This helps editors follow the conversation efficiently.

Great job with your first edits, particularly formatting the references! Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 17:53, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Checking in

edit

Hi Quirin! I tried to reach you at your work number but it was no longer working. I wanted to see how your discussions about the NDAA article have gone and if I can further assist you in any way. I was glad to see that you and Darouet worked towards consensus, and I also noted that some other editors expressed concern over your involvement. That's pretty par for the course on Wikipedia. Anyway, please feel free to reach out to me any time either on my talk page or my email address at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Best, Ocaasi t | c 13:38, 8 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
