Voltaires

edit

I'm sorry, but I can't find any indication that this band is noteworthy; all of the press I'm seeing here is for the British band, who are quite big. Can you point me in the direction of album reviews, books mentioning the group, etc? Chubbles (talk) 16:45, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here or There?

edit

Sure, no problem. Sorry for being dense, but I'm a new contributor. Do you want me to list stuff here or on your user talk page? R.N.Goldberg (talk) 21:01, 16 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think I'd prefer it here. Chubbles (talk) 00:30, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

(If it makes a difference, you can check me out as an author, Wall Street Journal columnist, documentary producer [Nat Geo, Halo 2 and 3 companion disks etc etc]. But this is really about the band--to make sure the U.S. Voltaires gets a listing.)
Thanks! R.N.Goldberg (talk) 15:02, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid I don't think I can create this article. The coverage you have cited is strictly local, and the band doesn't appear to have had any major exposure nationally, internationally, or critically. It would be an extraordinary event for the article to be kept if it were challenged. Maybe in a few years. Chubbles (talk) 14:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for looking. Just so we understand, what's the difference between a Leeds and Manchester band getting coverage in Leeds and Manchester and a NY/NJ band getting coverage in that area? Isn't that pretty much the same? (Does airing the music on national television make any difference?) Also, we originally told: "If the band meets wikipedia's music notability criteria (and at first glance it looks like it does) --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 18:11, 15 January 2008 (UTC)" Does that mean anything? Thanks for the info... R.N.Goldberg (talk) 23:05, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, unfortunately I don't have access to the articles you've cited; I don't have a university library around to look them up in anymore. If these articles are all detailed profiles of the group, then you've got a chance through WP:MUSIC point 1, but this is very likely to be challenged, and without seeing the profiles myself I am not willing to take that chance. You may do so yourself if you like, but it's no sure shot. But the group does not appear to have any sort of qualification aside from point 1. Getting a song on national TV isn't nothing, but it's not sufficient in and of itself unless the band gets notice for it (and the fact that it aired on TV has to be backed up by a reliable source). Thanks for the response. If you have a moment, we have one more question--could you check out the listing on IMDB for Rob Goldberg? Would this be considered to have any impact? Thanks! R.N.Goldberg (talk) 17:26, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but I don't do personal requests. Chubbles (talk) 17:46, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
