Sockpuppetry?
editHi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Beefcakeyt, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community. dannymusiceditor oops 19:44, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi, my account has been blocked and 'confirmed' as a sock puppet. I don't really know where else I can post this as my account has been indefinitely blocked and it appears this is one of the only places I can write. The definition of sock puppet states that I am a user utilizing the creation of multiple accounts to do my bidding. I am on university wifi and therefore share the institution's IP address with BeefCakeYT who is I guess being accused as the creator of this account. I do not know what I can provide you with to validate that I am a different person - I can literally email my school ID, personal ID, etc. if it will help. BeefCakeYT is not misusing multiple accounts, the email I registered this account with is my own personal one that I have used for years - again if there is anyway I can validate this then please let me know. Also I would like to add a few words defending the case if it turns to meatpuppetry - I was not recruited nor convinced by BeefCakeYT IRL or online to support his opinion on the genre on TDEP page, all he really did was show me the disagreement he was having. I took it upon myself once being showed to formulate my own opinion and autonomously state it. There were never any ill-intentions involved, never any 'let's gang up on this page' ideologies among us, BeefCakeYT is not responsible for my words or actions on Wikipedia. I have now learned that since I share an IP address with BeefCakeYT I should make this clear on my UserPage so as to prevent any further sockpuppet or meatpuppet accusations. I would also like to address the edit warring I engaged in, I am new to Wikipedia and while this is not an excuse, does provide context for the issues I caused by engaging in constantly reverting changes to an edit I didn't agree with - I did not realize at the time how problematic and destructive this can be to a page and have since read the articles on Wikipedia regarding the sites guidelines and have since been illuminated on them. I apologize for these actions and have since learned a lot more about Wikipedia's rules. Oshjawo by the way is my roommate, I didn't recruit, knowingly encourage, or even know that they also edited TDEP's page. I don't think they take the Wikipedia edits seriously and also I know they don't even care about music like TDEP. Again, I don't know how I can confirm all these things, if there is something I can do please let me know as I have nothing to hide. I meant well, and apologize for my actions. Edit: I only just thought of this but I had logged into Wikipedia multiple times using my personal phone which probably has a separate IP from BeefCake and Oshjawo's, if it's possible to look at IP logs that could possibly help in distinguishing me from BeefCake? I don't know I'm kinda grasping at straws trying to find super hard evidence to support me here. Rabbitgears (talk) 22:05, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You are not a new account as you say. There are telltale signs of this which are apparent in your editing. It makes little difference as this account was strictly created for the purposes of circumventing policies. At the very least, this was coordinated meatpuppetry and the timeline strongly suggests this. Really, that plus a few other things in your editing has me leaning towards you being the same user. I think the standard offer is appropriate here.

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- If you're telling us the truth, what this would appear to be would be an unintentional case of meatpuppetry. Also, you should really tell Beefcake that what he did was wrong - he should have been blocked longer ago, like when TDEP initially got protected, but leniency was given until your roommate appeared to demonstrate that he didn't deserve it. Perhaps a reduction in his block sentence could happen. I'm not an admin, but I'll say what I can since I was involved. dannymusiceditor oops 19:34, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
@DannyMusicEditor: Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. BeefCakeYT seems to be aware of that his actions were harmful. Do you by any chance know how long it takes for these to be reviewed/if my request will be reviewed? Just since you're the Wiki veteran, thanks. Rabbitgears (talk) 03:21, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been yet, usually they're noticed by someone by now. I'd grab someone to look at this, but I don't know what level of involvement they need to be at, if at all. dannymusiceditor oops 04:17, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

- @Bbb23: What do you say? They claim to be roommates, just as you have assumed. Can this block be shortened? The user seams willing to change behavior. Vanjagenije (talk) 09:31, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- {{checkuser needed}}: Can some Checkuser take a look into this? I need permission to unblock. Vanjagenije (talk) 15:40, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- What accounts have you had prior to this one? You have other accounts?

@Berean Hunter: Hi, this is the only account I've ever owned. Like I've said I'm operating on university Wi-Fi and am willing to offer any information needed to confirm that I am not BeefCakeYT, I know him in person and I understand that me going on my own accord to defend him on the TDEP Wikipedia page was very wrong and I should have never engaged in edit warring, I was genuinely unaware of Wikipedia rules but have since versed myself in them. BeefCakeYT is not my roommate as he's a dude and I'm a girl and that just isn't a thing on our campus, the third account in question (Oshjawo) IS my roommate's though as I explained in my earlier defense. This was a case of unintentional meatpuppetry and I'm willing to comply and do whatever needed to prove that I'm a separate entity from BeefCakeYT and that this is my first Wikipedia account. If there is any information or evidence you guys can think of that I can provide you with to further my case then please let me know, and thank you for the replies! Berean Hunter , Vanjagenije Sorry for the pings, I'm just trying to look for a response to what I said above here^ Me and BeefCake have also left the university since it's summer, so would there be a way to distinguish us since we aren't operating on university wi fi anymore? Like since our IPs aren't gonna be the same for the entire summer? Also if you look up our usernames online we have separate Twitters, other social media, YouTubes, etc. would that help? Thank you.
