Newark and Category:Places Associated with Thomas Edison

edit

Your latest edit to the article for Newark, New Jersey again added Category:Places Associated with Thomas Edison. First off, Thomas Edison is not mentioned in the article. Even if he was mentioned, Newark is too big of a city to be associated with a single individual, even Edison. perhaps a section, neighborhood or building might be justified for inclusion in the category, but not the entire city of Newark. As such, the category will be removed again. Alansohn (talk) 21:27, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Nice work, but note I removed the "extracurricular activities" section as not WP:Notable. There are literally tens of thousands of schools in the world that have soccer, handball, band, etc. So unless one of these activities at the school is so remarkable that major outside media or academics are commenting on it (like, theoretically, the NY Times has an article Jersey School Revolutionizes Learning with Kickball-based Curriculum)) then it's just not significant enough to mention. Please review the WikiProject Schools guidelines listed at the top of your article, for ideas on how to continue to improve. Well done, MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:54, 2 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

However, the article about Woodrow Wilson Middle School includes extracurricular activities so why did you delete that section?— Preceding unsigned comment added by RainWizard29422 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for pointing out the problem with the article Woodrow Wilson Middle School! I have now fixed it. School articles should follow the guidelines Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:56, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited J.P. Stevens High School, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Italian and Mandarin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reversion on Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Edison, New Jersey

edit

Hi RainWizard,
I see that you have reverted my redirection of Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Edison, New Jersey. I did this per consensus on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Woodrow Wilson Middle School, Edison, New Jersey. Based on policy, can you explain why you did this? --Biblioworm 00:16, 5 December 2014 (UTC) Although, Woodrow Wilson is not known internationally, it is famous throughout the Tri-State Area and has won many awards in competitions. Also, Wikipedia should be as broad as possible, no matter what topics as long as the information is correct.Reply

Rainwizard, regardless of your opinion that Wikipedia should be as broad as possible, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, albeit one that everyone can edit (please see WP:NOT). AfD conclusions are to be respected as per policy. Consequently, if the AfD discussion on John Adams Middle School also results in a Merge/Redirect conclusion, you are also to respect the revision and not revert it. On a separate note, please sign your own comments with four tildes. If you need additional help, you can read Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting or visit the Teahouse. As the previous two reviewers stated, elementary schools are not generally notable, and No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. A very small portion of the content here could be merged to Edison Township Public Schools per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. --Ahecht (TALK
