A counterpoint purely because I like the sound of my own text: People do not have a limited supply of edits that they can spend. People can edit as much as they like - work and physics and all that permitting - and if they're allowed to do what they like they often get better at it and find other stuff to do. Conversely, it would be complete folly to forbid them to work on pleasant supplemental things in an effort to force them to spend that amount of effort on the site's core content.
