Welcome

Hi, Random Checkhead. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 12:24, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, sorry! Random Checkhead (talk) 12:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

How do you get a page that's Creation Protected unprotected?

edit

{{help}} How do you get a page that's Creation Protected unprotected? Because now it's plausible.

You get an admin to unprotect it, or you can go through Deletion Review. If you'd like an admin to help you, please place the {{adminhelp}} tag on this talk page, along with what specific page you'd like to create. Providing reasons why you think it is now "plausible" might also be a good idea. Killiondude (talk)

Creation Unlock

edit

{{adminhelp}} I was wondering if you could unlock the page for the creation of Hank Green, the brother of author John Green. While it was understandable 2 years ago when he was just the brother, now he has done much more. And while there are pages for internet celebrities, I feel it is better to sum it up with what was said in his brother's talk page.

"In addition, Hank Green has released album, cofounded his own record label, appeared on one of the Discovery Channel... channels (sorry for the awkwardness there) until he was let go. He did blurbs advancing Green Technology. He also has written reviews for the NY Times. That all seems notable enough to warrant his own friggin Wiki page. I mean if William Hung can get one then Hank Green, who actually accomplishes stuff, certainly deserves one"

Hi there. In order to do that, we need to establish notability - in this case, the applicable policy is Wikipedia:Notability (people).
Do you have links to some reliable sources such as major newspapers that can be used as references to an article? If so, please post them below using the format [http://www.google.com reference].
Then, please re-add the adminhelp to this page. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  03:42, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Subpage Creation, template application

{{help}}

How do I create a subpage? And how do I apply a template to my talk page? Do I have to make my own and apply it, or what? Random Checkhead (talk) 16:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi! To create a subpage, take a look at this page. As far as a template, what kind do you have in mind? shirulashem (talk) 16:57, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'd like to create my own. But I don't know how. I'd like to have some menus that hide and show at the viewer's digression, more specifically for some of the membership banners. Because they look kind of foolish just sitting there, which is why I haven't added any more. Also, how do you get a colored name, or a name with a picture on it? Because that's kinda cool. Random Checkhead (talk) 17:03, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I understand. Take a look at the User page design center for some ideas on developing your userpage. Specifically with regard to userboxes, take a look here. To customize your signature, this article will help. shirulashem (talk) 17:10, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
