I am a student charged with creating or revising a Wikipedia article to better reflect the goal of my class: social justice, inequality, and the capabilities of humans to make meaningful changes. I have chosen the topic of intimate partner violence as it applies to LGBT communities. My plan for updating and creating a new Wikipedia article is extensive. I plan to expand the article entitled “domestic violence”, “sexual violence” and “same-sex relationship” by adding sections on LGBT intimate partner violence. These articles are best served by adding short sections with general information as not to take away from the directions of the parent article. This section will include/update information on the prevalence of IPV, implications of LGBT discrimination, and consequences of IPV on the LGBT individual/community. The article on “same-sex relationship” could also use information pertaining to more than just laws and sexual experiences. My new article entitled “LGBT Intimate Partner Violence” will include sections on definition, prevalence, forms of IPV, perpetrator’s motivations, and counseling for victims. There will be many links to other articles within the new entry. Some of those links will be to the pages I wish to update, as well as “mental health”, “sexual abuse”, “HIV”, “hegemonic masculinity”, and “gender roles”. These topics all come up in references and research on same-sex intimate partner violence and are essential to understanding the complexity of IPV and the LGBT community Ratilley (talk) 01:46, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, this is Vincent from your 9:25 PJHC class. Just wanted to introduce myself as part of our assignment, and I hope you have a good weekend! You seem to have a pretty good idea of what you want to write your wiki article about; what made you interested in researching LGBT Intimate Partner Violence?
