Wealden line

I see your playing with this one now. Good luck! If your playing with route maps, why not look at WP:TRAIL first, there are some good examples and a lot of help there. Secondly while an article on this is needed, quite how it will overlap / interact with the Oxted line article (and others like the Cuckoo line and Three bridge to Tunbridge Wells) is an issue that i think the editors of these article need to really resolve first before we overlap too much. Hundred of Hoo railway

Reading what is said on Subterranea Britannica and Kent Rail, the situation at Grain Crossing was that the station closed to rail passenger traffic on 11-7-1951, but not to passengers until 3-9-1951, when Grain Station opened. That would be why a bus service was provided (presumably from Allhallows-on-Sea}. Mjroots (talk) 20:57, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

As far as I know, the Gravesend West branch had no physical connection with the North Kent Line. Don't just take my word for it though! Mjroots (talk) 19:07, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Ouse Valley Railway

This particular line may well be worth a mention as it would, had it been completed, changed the shape of the railways in the Weald (East Sussex). Its fate is interesting and I would like you to assist me in starting this off as a Stub. Given your legal background you could do some digging concerning the collapse of Overend and Gurney Bank in May 1866. Which stopped all major rail capital projects, both at home and abroad, besides which it's effect on the UK banking system as catastrophic. Let me have your views and ideas please. Steyning Line

I've given this its correct title - Adur Valley Line. I'd not heard of the abandoned spur at Christs Hospital. From the diagram it enabled trains to turn round and head bac towards London without reversing! Mjroots (talk) 22:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

In having discussions with some railway societies here in Sussex, the view is that whilst the line is mentioned in the Beeching 1 Report as unremunerative, in fact the reasons for closure were due to a lack of rolling stock. Basically not enough DEMUs to go around and run existing services when steam was removed from the BR system. Will be visiting the PRO at Kew this week to see what is in the files. My preference is for the disused railways template, but both link to the same category. As I understand it, the disused railways template covers closed stations on open or closed lines. Earnest Marples

I have been advised by a friend that the Marples-Ridgeway shares owned by Marples himself were transferred to a blind trust and not to his wife as has been reported in the newspapers.
