Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. 331dot (talk) 15:59, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi! I believe I've been blocked for COI reasons, however I have followed the guidelines and made the necessary disclosures. I am not creating a promotion or anything of the sort. I am merely stating the facts. There exists a company, it was founded in 2019, and it does X. Language is neutral throughout. Please let me know if there are further actions that I must take. All the best. Phonicresearch (talk) 16:24, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As 331dot has said, you need a new username. Either of us can rename and unblock you. I can rename you if you ping me by placing {{ping|dlohcierekim}} in your request and sign with 4 ~'s.-- Dlohcierekim 18:42, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The block is primarily for your username; usernames cannot be that of an organization per the username policy; usernames must indicate that a specific individual is using the account(your real name is not required). A name in the format of "Username of Phonicresearch" would be acceptable. If you follow the instructions above to propose a new name, I can rename your account and remove the block.

Please note that Wikipedia is not for merely telling about something; that's considered promotional(even if not actively soliciting clients/customers). Wikipedia is interested in what independent reliable sources state about subjects, not in what the subject wants to say about itself. To be successful in writing an article about your organization(which you should use Articles for Creation for) you will essentially need to forget everything you know about it and only write based on what independent sources state(this does not include your website, press releases, announcements, etc.) Note that your user page is not article space, but a place to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia use. 331dot (talk) 16:29, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Phonicresearch. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 15:59, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Dlohcierekim: Hello Dlohcierekim, I have successfully changed my username. Please let me know if there's something else I must do to proceed. RayGusman (talk) 10:45, 22 August 2019 (UTC) RayGusman @Dlohcierekim:Reply

Note that pings do not work unless you sign your post by putting ~~~~ at the end of it(without the nowiki tags around it as seen in the edit window). I will remove the block in a moment, more advice to come. 331dot (talk) 10:48, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the block. You will need to read the conflict of interest notice above and the pages linked therein, as there are likely some required disclosures that you need to make. If you have any questions, you may ask here(I will see them), at the Teahouse or Help Desk. 331dot (talk) 10:50, 22 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
