I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Thanks for getting back to me. Although you may not think you have a conflict of interest, others may think differently, and in these cases it's always better to raise concerns on the article talk page rather than trying to make edits yourself - even if you think they are non-controversial. I'll take another look at your suggested edits - as an independent editor - and, if you disagree with any changes I make, I suggest you raise your concerns on the article talk page, and we can take it from there. Ray Burton is a celebrity songwriter/singer/entertainer who receives constant requests for historic information regarding his career which began in 1960 and continues to this day. He is the co-writer of the internationally famous song I AM WOMAN with Helen Reddy.

As his PA I am attempting to compose a Wikipedia page to lighten my burden of constantly supplying CV etc information.

As a composer and pioneer in the Australian Music Industry vital data should be available through Wikipedia. I do not understand the objection to the information I am attempting to enter.

As a non-admin observer, I'm sure that the proper procedures have been gone through here. Wikipedia is definitely NOT a place where people should post autobiographies - whether or not they are written by the subject or by their PA. However, it may well be that Mr Burton does indeed meet the criteria at WP:COMPOSER, and deserves his own article. In that case, you should propose that an article be created at WP:AFC, or start one there yourself but explain that you have a conflict of interest. I'm happy to help - I have a fair amount of experience at writing biographies of musicians, as shown on my user page, so please contact me on my talk page if necessary. I deleted the page, unfortunately clicking the wrong rationale, it should have been for promotional writing. To follow up from Ghmyrtle's helpful comment, paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a black hat practice.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Rayburtonmusic. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Rayburtonmusic|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}.

......................................... This is so much harder than I realised. OK. I'll go read the links. Ghmyrtle I think your knowledge, obvious (now had a good look) interest in the music industry will be invaluable. I'll discuss all of this with Ray Burton and get back to you. Many thanks.

It might help if you were to look at the article on Ayers Rock (band), and note that it has a very large number of references from independent sources. It looks to me (I haven't checked it in detail) as though that is the sort of article that Wikipedia encourages - thorough, well-researched, based on published reliable sources, and not promotional in any way - it includes bad reviews as well as good ones. It's currently up for review as a "good article". For future reference, it would be helpful if you "signed" any posts on talk pages like this one with four of these symbols: ~ that automatically gives your user name and the time and date of your posting.
