Welcome!

Hello Rayjameson, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users—please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Unfortunately, however, a tag has been placed on USC Limited, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. {{{2}}} Rcawsey (talk) 12:53, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of USC Limited

edit

I have nominated USC Limited, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USC Limited. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Wuhwuzdat (talk) 13:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

A message from the creator...of this article (USC Limited)

edit

Dear Wikipedia Administrators,

I have read the message regarding the suggestion for speedy deletion of the USC Limited article. I realize that I have noted the company's website as a reference, but have not noted any documents such as newspaper articles. I am certain there is some information published on USC Limited somewhere, and will try to find other sources (when I have time).

The USC Limited website is in Japanese, so, for a person unable to read Japanese, it may be difficult to understand the significance of the company in Japanese-American relations. However, if one does read the website, one would understand that USC Limited is significant in that it is a company that has imported products for several decades from the US, despite the fact that the US has had a significant trade deficit with Japan for many years. There has been much emotional political debate concerning trade relations between Japan and the US. USC Limited is an anomaly in that it is a Japanese trading company that relies on imports from the US (rather than exporting to the US) for its well-being.

If you desire to delete the page, that is OK for now, but I definitely plan to work on it some more, and, if need be, point to the significance of having the names of the presidents of the company noted (though I could live with not having them noted). In any case, the founder of the company is deceased. The current president of the company has his name (and photo) prominently noted on the company website(http://www.usccom.co.jp/aisatu/aisatu.html) - which is a public document, accessible to anyone.

Also, if you do a search on the Japanese-language versions of yahoo (yahoo.co.jp) or google (google.co.jp) you will find USC Limited at the top or near the top of the list, and should find another reference to it within the first five listings. I think that suggests it is a notable entity. In addition, consider that USC Limited has imported and presently imports products from some very well-known companies in the US and Europe. USC Limited also markets the products it imports to very important entities such as: Toyota, Nissan, and the Japanese goverment's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. For those reasons alone, I believe this qualifies as a notable company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rayjameson (talk • contribs) 20:27, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

In closing, let me thank you for your comments and concern. Your input is very helpful in editing wikipedia.

Sincerely,

AfD nomination of American Club (eikaiwa)

edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is American Club (eikaiwa). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/American Club (eikaiwa). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I found out that this article, which I wrote, is being considered for deletion. This comes as a surprise. I believe it is well-referenced, and I cannot see any clear-cut violation of any wikipedia policy I have read. However, I am a new user, and I don't really know how wikipedia operates too well yet. Anyway, if I make any mistakes, I know I can learn from them. I thank you for any constructive input/suggestions - both past and future. Proposed deletion of Don MacLaren

edit

The article Don MacLaren has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject does not enjoy a level of importance more than the average person. See talk page for more information.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Yes, please remove tags that no longer apply. If removing "unreferenced" consider if it might still be a good idea to have "refimprove". Rich Farmbrough, 03:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC).Reply
