Class Partners
editHi Rebecca, it looks as if we've been assigned to be partners for the Wikipedia assignment for Dr. Ogg's class this semester. My name's Jason and this is the second course I've taken in the general biotech program through JHU. I live in Illinois and teach various biology classes at Southeastern Illinois College. I look forward to working with you on these projects! Jfitz1974 (talk) 22:39, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Jason, I look forward to the project also! I feel like I'm starting to get a hang of the editing so hopefully things continue to go well. Hopefully your semester is going great so far (both your classes as JHU and your teaching)! Are you teaching any biotech in your classes now? Rebeccachappel (talk) 21:11, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
- My semester is going by pretty fast; taking classes while teaching a full load means I have to budget my time wisely, but I truly do enjoy it and wouldn't want it any other way. The college where I work received some funding to begin a 2 year transfer program in Biotech and I am the lead instructor of that program. I'm not teaching any biotech classes this semester, but in the spring I will have a techniques lab-based course as well as a cell bio course and immunology course as part of the program. After attending a week-long class at the NIH on biotechnology techniques, it really inspired me to push for a biotech program at SIC. Jfitz1974 (talk) 00:36, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- That sounds great for the student. I think the more exposure students can have to new research (making it more exciting in my opinion) the better. Rebeccachappel (talk) 15:48, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
Latest Updates
editHi Rebecca, I went ahead and moved the Virus section to after the Eukaryotes section on our Extrachromosomal DNA page like you had suggested. I also cleaned up the Relevant Research section and made some revisions to the sections that I wrote based upon the reviewers comments; I also added a graphic that I found on Wikipedia Commons. I have also found some great information on DNA vaccines that I will add to the article tomorrow (Tuesday) sometime. Thanks! Jfitz1974 (talk) 04:29, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I just saw the updates to the article - the rearrangements look great. That's exactly what I had in mind. I've had to rearrange some of my time due to holiday travel so I apologize for just responding now! I'll update my sections before the end of the day. DNA vaccines sound like a great addition! I had that concept written down to try to tie in some of the virus sections but nothing has sounded fluid yet - I still have a little trouble sounding choppy but hopefully I can work through some of that. I'll see what progresses. Thanks!! Rebeccachappel (talk) 15:52, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
