Arbcom elections
editHi, I'm sorry to have to inform you that because you did not have the necessary number of mainspace edits prior to 1st November 2007, you are ineligible to vote in the Arbcom elections this year. - Hi, you can't vote because you need to have more than 150 edits to the mainspace (articles, for want of a better word) and those edits need to have been made prior to 1st November 2007. You only have 5 edits to the mainspace, and these edits came after 1st November. This is purely to prevent election fraud by people registering a number of accounts and running up 150 or so edits then using them all to vote for a specific candidate and it does, sadly, prevent genuine users from voting. We hope you won't be to disappointed and will vote next year when you'll have more than enough edits, we hope. I'm afraid these rules can't be altered either, that's a popular question and it's disappointing to have to tell people that if they don't qualify, their votes can't be counted.
- Your comment remains visible and it might be taken into account if the percentages are very close, so your votes aren't a complete loss, people do see them, even if they don't count towards the final percentage. Nick (talk) 02:23, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Zeroa
editHi Redstarsldr: I saw and edited the stub article you started about Zeroa. Some of the facts were wrong as the Zaroa is not eaten, it is used primarily as a symbol. It is not customarily eaten during the seder, some people eat it the next day perhaps. Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis
editHi, there is an extremely long and muddled discussion going on at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found on tennis player articles (i.e. this type of table), and I'm notifying you as you identified yourself as a member of the project. The dispute is over the "Tournament Name" column, with the options being to either use the "sponsored tournament name" - in other words, the name involving the sponsor, for example Internazionali BNL d'Italia - or the "non-sponsored tournament name" - in other words, Rome Masters. I appreciate that this conversation is very long and convoluted, so a brief summary can be found here, which is also where I request the discussion continues. Hello WikiProject Space member! A discussion has been started regarding the future of WikiProject Space here; any comments you might have would be welcome! There are mainly two competing ideas:
- Centralize all the Space-related WikiProjects, such as Astronomy and Spaceflight, and merge them into WikiProject Space, or
- Separate the Astronomy and Spaceflight "sides" of WikiProject, and remove WikiProject Space.

Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.
I'm scouring user pages looking for inspiring, motivating and interesting stories of how Wikipedia has affected the lives of people. I'm asking questions like "How has Wikipedia changed your life?", "What's the most interesting story you have about Wikipedia?" and "Has Wikipedia ever surprised you?"
Last year, we used the annual fundraiser as a way to show the world who it is who actually writes Wikipedia. We featured editors from Brazil, Ukraine, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, India, United States and England. This campaign was a huge success, resulting in the most financially successful fundraising campaign ever. It was also a campaign that stayed true to the spirit of Wikipedia, educating the public that this free top-5 website is created by volunteers like you and I.
This year we want to highlight more Russian-language Wikipedia editors, so I am in the process of planning a trip to Russia to interview editors.
If you or someone you know (or have heard about) has been positively affected by Wikipedia, or have something interesting to say about Wikipedia I'd very much like to hear about it!

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
